Now with the impending cut coming up, I’m cramming in a bunch of my favourite cheats in these last few days. Meat lovers pizza last night, beer with every meal and heading to a breakfast buffet tomorrow morning. This has been fun and all, but I am ready for this cut. I’m going to put in a decent T-ransformation this year. Should be able to get some before photos up today or tomorrow.
Good to see your having a dig at transformation again this year. I am ficusing on strength so no cut for me this year. My hope is that my finals pics resemble your starting pics from last year !! Good luck with it mate.
Posting my 2020 T-ransformation photos over in the official thread, but I’ll drop them here as well. Lots of work to do, but looking forward to leaning down again.
Starting weight (this morning) is 224.4lbs, at 5’9". The plan is to cut until I am happy with what I see in the mirror.
you had a few more in there eh? ![]()
Looking strong Sleepy
And proving it with that squat and the big bench.
Happy New Year man,
gonna look like Arnold Soon!!! keep up the great work sleeper
Your 225 and my 225 don’t look the same…
The doubles leading up to that felt HEAVY. I was thinking 6reps when I went into the set. I forgot that setting up the camera adds 20% (need to show off to my TNation peeps). I could have probably pushed another couple/few reps out, but it took me several minutes to recover from this set! Cardio.
Thanks Mort, happy New Year to you as well!
Haha, thanks Pappa. I am definitely happier with my appearance when I’m sitting about 10lbs lighter than I am right now, but I’m OK with my starting point. ![]()
Well, 6" can make quite a difference! ~that’s what she said~ Yep, I just “that’s what she said”-d myself. Great start to 2020, humour on point.

395 x 2
395 x 2 - these doubles were feeling heavy
395 x 2
395 x 10
I was thinking 6 would be good, just kept grinding away. Small bit of form breakdown (hips shooting back a bit early), so I didn’t push it too close to failure.

DB Row

BB Shrugs
245 x 20
245 x 15
Hold at top, controlled eccentric. Good weight here for another week or two. Not heavy, but felt like I targeted the traps nicely.

225lbs x 10
225lbs x 10
Same as shrugs, hold at top, controlled ecc.
Good workout, the squat workout is my longest workout by far. Still only around 1hr though, so not bad.
My wife and I still do this too each other. It never gets old!
Our next vacation has finally been scheduled (our last getaway was our honeymoon, 5 years ago). Heading to a resort in Orlando, Florida for 8 days at the end of March.
This will be the first mini deadline for my T-ransformation. I’m hoping to be beach body ready by then, have an 8-day re-feed
, then come back and continue cutting for the remainder of the challenge. Nearly 3 months will be plenty of time to make a significant difference in my physique. It’s on.
Also, I’m heading on a road trip next weekend with a few pals to go see the Green Bay Packers beat whatever team ends up playing them in their divisional playoff game. That is going to be an awesome time! (might stray from my diet for a few days that weekend…)
Talking about vacations in here?
Sweet I’m in!
And yeah you carry your weight way too damn well. Not fair!
For sure! Nothing is off limits in here…except politics, that disaster is better left out of here, haha.
I appreciate it man, I’ve definitely carried it a little better in the past, but I can’t complain. I’ve always been quite heavy for my apparent size.
I have 12 weeks until my FL vacation, so I’m thinking I should be able to get down to 212-215lbs (-9-12lbs) by then which should be good for walking around shirtless for a week, lol. Oh, the vanity.

This wraps up my 5 microcycles of the first mesocycle. The next 3 workouts will be a deload and then my weights reset back and start making my way back through meso 2 trying to break new rep PRs. This cycle starts back at 80% whereas last cycle began at 77.5%.
I’m really enjoying the program, very 5/3/1-ish in terms of slow progression, a few steps forward, a couple steps back, break rep PRs, concise workouts, etc. No intentions on switching programs yet, so that’s a PR for me too.
That was a lie, THIS workout wraps up my 5 microcycles…

A little tweak in my lower back. I took ample rest between sets, and took my time unloading/loading the rack pulls. Didn’t seem to hurt during the brace/pull, but walking around and moving the plates was uncomfortable.

SEA vs GB game this Sunday, going to be a fun game to be at, looking forward to it! (not looking forward to the 13+hr drive the following day…)
that 5th set program looks pretty cool, great bench Sleepy.
I envy you a bit that you can go see football. I’ll hope I can sneak in the time to watch the game.
I’m enjoying the simplicity of the program. Hopefully I can realize some strength gains after peaking in a few months (all while attempting to shed some flubber).
Seems like it is slowly creeping back. Unfortunately it has been stuck for 3 years, a very long plateau.
Should be a good time for sure!
No training since the 5th, and not sure if I’ll have a chance tonight. We are finally making some progress on our house again so I’ve been meeting with contractors during the evenings.
My weight has decided to drop quite quickly just by cutting out my usual crap from my diet. Averaged 219.4lbs the last couple mornings, so I dropped a quick 5lbs of water/glycogen, but I’d be lying if I said it didn’t feel good to see the scale moving in the right direction.
I brought a tub of protein to work, so now when I do not pack a lunch I have protein powder for lunch rather than slipping out to McDonald’s. This is the third day this week that I have not packed a lunch, really need to get back into the meal prepping routine again.
