I like it a lot actually. It has a wide selection of programs and a good basic nutrition section. It’s a book I’ve went back to a few times when I find myself caught up in the myriad of information on the internet. A good blend between Paul Carter’s no-nonsense style, mixed with CT’s use of intensification methods.
Sounds legit, might have to bump it up the list! Thanks!
Any idea if The Maximum Muscle Bible trumps CT’s Black Book of Training Secrets?
The latter was released in '06 and the enhanced edition came out in '14.
I see what you did there ![]()
That’s what it’s called! ![]()
I haven’t read that one, so I can’t compare. I do really like reading Paul Carter’s stuff, so the Max Muscle Bible would probably still get my vote, but can’t say for sure.
CT’s stuff is so fluid I wonder if the newest stuff is his best. He’s always evolving which I think is cool since most coaches find a niche and stick to it regardless of new information and tools available.
If I recall correctly, he was pretty pumped about releasing that book with Paul. How often do you get two top notch coaches in the same book? Seems like a good deal in terms of money spent—like a two for one!
I’m tempted to buy one of CT’s books but at the same time I’m not sure if I really need any more information to distract me. I’m finishing the most simple program I’ve ever run and having great results. I’m kind of at the point of “if it ain’t broke then why try to fix it?”
If I start reading more then I’ll just get distracted by shiny objects and possibly derail myself LOL!
My thoughts exactly. I usually suck as much free information from the web as I can and then after I sift through it all and put some into practice I decide what was the most value to me.
CT, Paul Carter, Jim and Brian Alsruhe all have influenced my training for the better so I have purchased books/tshirts from them to show my support.
The results from the meet were posted and looks like I finished 8th overall and second in my weight class (100kg).
I actually set the deadlift record in my weight class for this particular host Elite Powerlifting Canada (EPC) which hosted the Canadian Powerlifting League (CPL) meet.
The CPL Untested record is only 317.0kg which is definitely attainable for me. I’m considering dropping down to the 90kg class for my next meet just to smash the deadlift record. Then focus on filling out the 100kg class and doing some damage there.
The tested CPL records are quite low. I’m not sure what the reason for this would be, difficult to find tested meets maybe?

Canadians are honest.

??? tee hee
Who the hell is that Amit Sapir dude??? I didnt realize he was Canadian but I have seen all of his Squat records. Beast of a Person.
He has a sticky on this forum doesnt he?
It looks like you have your pick of records to go after. GET THEM ALLL!!!
There are a few videos of him demonstrating his back workouts (I’m sure others too) and he is comically thick.
Probably this and that I think IPL tested meets are pretty new (maybe introduced a year or 2 ago) so not many tested meets have even been held yet - and most top tested lifters stick to IPF feds. This could start to change though as it seems more and more are moving away from IPF.
Also awesome job on the meet! Deadlifts looked smooth.
Thanks for weighing in! That makes sense. So what you’re saying is get in there and set those records quickly before you have more competition!
Thanks a lot, whatever I did the last 12 weeks seemed to work!
Hey Sleepy
I was away in London, and haven’t checked in yet.
First of, F*****g awesome man. Congrats.
Great write up and great videos.
Bad luck on bench, but well, something to work on.
Squats looked awesome and strong.
Deadlift, why didn’t you go for a challenging weight ![]()
Looked so smooth, fast and strong.
And as you know I love the way you puts that bar down ever so gently.
Thanks a lot man! I hope you had a good time in London!
Yes a tough go on the bench, but it might be finally time to make that lift a priority for a bit.
Always! Regardless if it is a PR or not.
How does Amit Sapir squat 347.5 kgs and NOT deadlift at least 280kgs to have that record too??? It seems odd for the deadlift record to be that far behind the squat record. Granted, that’s a monster squat by any standard.
It does seem like an oddly squat heavy total. But it gives me a chance!
From memory he’s had injury issues that pretty much fucked his pull. Plus I think he’s always focused on his squat because he wanted to hold all time squat records in four weight classes.
Got in a quick little restorative workout tonight. I only had about 30mins to get one in.

These started off feeling very rough. Hips, knees, back, everything was feeling sore. It looks like the meet beat me up a little more than I thought! It felt good to get everything moving under load though. The later sets did start feeling a little better than the earlier ones.
Bunch of pallof presses and bar hangs between sets to help the back pain out a bit.
