Same man. The only time I’ve ever had really good recovery between sets is when I had a broken ankle and was doing 6 sets/day every day. I also weighed 140lbs at the time which certainly helped my cause haha.
5/3/1 1.2 - W4D2
SQUAT
135 x 5
225 x 5
335 x 5 x 7sets (60s rest in between)
The first 2-3 sets were tough and I wasn’t confident I’d finish all 7. I moved my stance in a little more narrow and things grooved a lot nicer for the remaining sets. For whatever reason, I think I need to go wide to lift more weight, but for me that doesn’t seem to be the case.
BENCH
135 x 5
245 x 5
275 x 3
305 x 1
320 x 3
First time benching on my new bench. This thing is STIFF. I’m used to sinking into a cushion. It was also quite slippery, so I wrapped a big ol’ band around it for my last couple sets. It might take a little getting used to, but no complaints.320 for a triple isn’t crazy good for me, but it isn’t a horrible day either. I’ll take it.
Bunch of band work between sets.
Giant Set of the following:
Wide Grip Pullups
8, 6, 6
Triceps Banded Pushdowns (blue mini)
20, 15, 15
Ab Wheel
12, 12, 12
Solid workout. I could have pushed the assistance a little harder, kinda just went through the motions. Planned on doing 4 sets, but my attention drifted elsewhere…
“I’ll take it.” Haha good, strong shit.

Thanks man!
I also forgot to mention I did all squats beltless. I honestly don’t do much work (squats/dl) beltless, and I think I’ve been watching too many videos lately of dudes (Dan Green and Ben Pollack specifically) lifting beltless that has made me want to give it a go.
You really need to stop doing curls and press downs while wearing your belt.
This is exactly why I included the parenthesis.
So shit disturbers like yourself wouldn’t have the ammunition. But then you pulled out the taser.
I don’t know why I didn’t notice, because I’ve peaked in here, but you are freaking strong. Good stuff.
Thanks man, I appreciate it. Starting next week I’ll be jumping on the cut train, so hopefully I don’t lose much/any strength during the following 8 weeks!
Not looking forward to cardio… although watching Brooklyn Nine Nine on the AirDyne was tolerable.
I just saw my own typo. You’re the one that peaked in here; I peeked and my interest was piqued.
I got into “the last kingdom” on Netflix… but it can get uncomfortable if there’s anyone else around you
Lol, I wasn’t going to call you out for it.
I’ll have to look into that one, never heard of it. The fact that it is on Netflix increases my chances of watching it by approximately 1000%. Although there are plenty of recommendations I’ve received online, just to go home and find out that Canadian Netflix doesn’t have it. American Netflix > Canadian Netflix
If you don’t mind violence and sci-fi I just watched the Altered Carbon series, and it was pretty dang cool, in my very humble opinion…also The Punisher (Netflix Original) is well done and awesomely gritty.
Love me some violence, but I’ve never really been drawn to the sci-fi genre. Willing to give it a go though. If I’m going to be getting on this cardio train soon, I’ll need a few shows to maintain what little sanity I have left.
I went start to finish through The Punisher, I really enjoyed it.
Obviously it’s a difference in American English and Canadian.
I didn’t like the first couple episodes, because that whole everyone trying to figure out one guy at war got killed was a little much, but then it started to make sense to the story. The guy that played the punisher was terrific. The bad guys were really good too, actually.
I think I watch more tv now that I got rid of tv and only have Netflix… that backfired. I try to keep it to cardio and planes at least!
I was the same actually. I actually stopped watching after the first few episodes (I have very little patience for shows, if 2-3 episodes in a row I don’t like, I’ll probably drop it) but then I was bored and not sure what to watch so I picked it back up and then it got good. Glad I started watching it again.
One series that I just cannot get through (which will likely cause some outrage within my thread) is Breaking Bad. I’ve put in two solid attempts. I finished season 1 when it first came out and everyone was watching it. Couldn’t be bothered to start season 2. Then a year or more later some friends convinced me to watch it again, because season 2 is “when it really starts getting good and will get you addicted”. So I re-watched season 1 and then watched season 2. Too many hours that I will never get back. Sorry Breaking Bad fans.
The worst, its not at the butt as much as at the top of the Christmas tree muscles and under the lats. It feels like somebody is trying to stuff an orange into a lemon sized cavity…and the next day if they were really bad it feels like somebody punched you a ton in that spot.
Tell him his AI dose might need to be upped, strong possibility it is estrogen related and high blood pressure from said estrogen. I am fighting the same battles and that is the only thing that makes sense so far. (I have also read it can happen to pregnant women soooo) EDIT: and taurine at 5-15g a day is supposed to help too.
I came in here looking for this. IMO I would have been doing singles from 335 on and I would have took a much smaller jump to 535.
Something like 475-505-535.
Also it doesnt look like you have touched those weights in a while with out doing a whole on peak you can prep yourself a bit.
Before your normal workload work up to a heavy single of 475, 495 next workout then 515. Workout #4 go for 535.
NOW GET TO WORK!!! I am waiting…![]()
Thanks @BOTSLAYER! That seems like a very solid approach to slowly gearing up in weight. Ill be sure to tag you WHEN I PR.
I have this mindset that additional sets will just tire me out, but I guess if Ièm going for a PR I should just do a few more singles and keep the rest periods adequate.
I appreciate the tips man.

Never heard that song before or I don’t think. Local band? Your video looks great!
Pretty sure that’s “Great Big Sea” - When I’m Up I can’t get down (song name)
