I agree. The list needs to be released so it can be adsorbed, discussed, and gotten over.

I have a feeling the media is doing their best to get plenty o’mileage out of this list (that shouldn’t have even been made public, and is also 6 fucking years old) since the typical baseball season this time of year is all kinds of boring.

It’s ridiculous.
I am surprised this is still that interesting to people. You would think they would be tired of hearing about this shit by now and would have simply accepted the fact that, yes, some guys who play pro sports use steroids. I mean, is anyone in this country actually going, “GASP!!..I just can’t believe it!!!”?

All of the focus on this shit is why newbies here think any decent size gains at all requires steroid use (even though most of the guys getting caught aren’t big at all). If anything, the use of these drugs by teenagers may increase due to everyone thinking all people who have any size on them or who do well in sports must be taking them.

I have no basis for this really, but you don’t come across as a huge baseball fan. Just like any other sport, when controversy strikes, we’re all a bunch of old ladies in a sewing circle and need to talk about it.

I’m surprised this is surprising to you.

What a shocker. Turns out Many is on the 2003 list. Any of you still believe the ED claim now? Suckers.

Ortiz as well. They really need to just release the names on that list at this point. My opinion

Agreed.
Maybe so, but I think the MLB players union should still be suing the shit out of whoever is responsible for these leaks.

I hate sewing circles. In fact, I hate most gossip. I get that enough from the ladies at work.

Let’s see, the removal of testosterone and a bunch of dudes suddenly acting like old ladies.

Damn it, it looks like they won already. I suggest all men just hand in their nutsacks now as to avoid any further problems in the future. The last thing we need are men who act like it.

It’s actually a metaphor for talking about things we’re interested in. Just like you talk about guys who use synthol in bodybuilding.

What’s the difference?

Well, for one, I am in the gym lifting my ass off 6-7 days a week. Some of the loudest followers of baseball are complete couch potatoes whose exercise includes passing that foot long meatball sub across the table. I talk about it because I live it. Most of these guys talk about it just to fucking gossip. Most of the crap I hear about this issue from other people (not here specifically) is a repeat of whatever opinion is on the news. It isn’t like they are doing any thinking for themselves.

I take it a little personal because this issue has caused the average person to think even more than ANYONE they see with some size on them must be doing something wrong. It wasn’t that bad even 10 years ago.

Regardless of whether or not the guys who LOVE baseball can play worth a damn or not, they like to talk shop about a sport they love. Their ability to play has no bearing on whether or not they have the right to talk about it.

I understand the whole steroid issue is a sensitive topic for you. Great. For better or worse, they are illegal in baseball. If someone uses them, they are cheating. Fans of the game of baseball are going to talk about people cheating in the sport they love, regardless of their ability to play the game.

LOL, big surprise here. Next: Pujols, Piazza, Curt Schilling.

Baseball has the most rigorous testing out of any of the major U.S. sports, kind of makes you think.

What’s most frustrating is the sports radio shows that will talk this thing into the dirt all day for the next handful of days.

I think these guys are the type that X was referring to. Guys so in love with sports that they stay close to it by being reporters, writers, talk show hosts, etc. JT the Brick is the best example off the top of my head. The guy will go on the air tonight just appalled and offended about another name being released and whattya know it’s a big name dude. He’ll scream that he just knew it, and that he’s not surprised that Papi was a name on the list. That he predicted it, all of that.

Fuck.

You can hear the seething in their voices, or rising up off the page. Angry that their favorite guy turned out to be dirty.

And they’ll shout shit like:

“What kind of influence is this on our kids?”
“Asterisks all over the 90’s!!!”
“We wanna hear what the listeners think of Papi being dirty!!! Call in now!!!”

And dudes will call in, and mothers will call in, just blown away that their previous image of Papi only needing a little spit on his batting gloves was all he needed to go yard…

If everyone would just settle on the fact that dirty players played on dirty teams who won championships over other dirty teams we could put this thing to bed, but that doesn’t sell advertisements. Wipe the slate clean and consider every team dirty, realize the whole era was “enhanced” because it wasn’t tested and finally shut up about it.

It’s unfortunate that this is the crap that sells airtime and ads. It really is.

Now, all these guys who were dirty are worried that they won’t get into the HOF, and rightfully so… Because the voting is done by birdchested pencil neck writers who couldn’t hit an ephus out of the infield.

Last thing I’ll say is that Selig needs to step down. He fostered the environment, wasn’t tough enough on the union back in the day, and now he’s washing his hands and allowing the players who saved baseball to be crucified one by one. He’s a shady fucking dweeb who only cares about his own hide. My respect for that motherfucker is in the negative.
