Bastard!
You are incorrect, however, I think there might be a law in San Francisco that requires all males riding fixed gear/racing bikes to utilize one of these satchels. Whether it is related or not, these males are also much more likely to get hit by cars.
First of all, I think if you like cawk and you like the bag on the right, you’re gay too. Secondly, how many women out there decide whether or not a guy is attractive and/or noticeable based on what kind of bag they use? Is this really the make-or-break deal clincher for you women out there? If all other things were equal, and I’m wearing a nice worsted wool 2-button suit and carrying a briefcase and another guy is wearing the same sort of suit but using a carryall, is the carryall going to be what separates us? I hope not.
Good point.
and yes, all things being otherwise equal, the messenger bag seals the deal over the briefcase. The first things I notice about a guy are his smile and his shoes and/or any accessories.
LOL that’s enough!
Timeless does in no way mean “old”. Timeless means that it’s always in style. There are certain styles of briefcases that may be “old”. But the briefcase itself is timeless. The double-breasted, 3-button suit is “old”, but the suit itself is timeless. Am I making sense here?
The carryall will most likely be the scourge of the men’s accessories world ten years from now. In ten or fifteen years we’ll look back on them as further evidence of the invasion and infiltration of western European metrosexual fashion into the American mainstream. I hate when people say, “Oh, they’ve been doing it Europe for ten years now. America is so behind the times.” No, we make our own “times”.

Yes, you do. It’s about 10 years behind the rest of the world.
(:
I have a man bag and it carries my work stuff, my food, my gym clothes, my weight belt and straps. My backpack is too stupid for work and my briefcase can’t do that.
I think that unless you’re making at least $300k/year (I really wanna write $500k, but whatever), you really need to wear a nice messenger bag. If you’re not matching a briefcase to a nice $5k suit, the look just doesn’t work. If you make a lot of money, you can wear a freaking fedora with a suit and it would like right on you. You have to have all the other fancy things to match the salary, though, like a really nice car (Not just a nice suit). If you’re wearing a $500 suit and get into a cubicle every morning, you’ll just look like you’re trying to hard with a briefcase, despite how cool you think it may look.
American Psycho is fucking great, though. It’s my favorite movie. Definitely hilarious. But, it took place in the 80’s. Also, he met all the criteria that I personally think should be met in order to wear one properly, lol.

You know what? I’ve been thinking a lot about this and you’re right. After all, fashion is purely a personal decision anyways.
So when I decide that I want to look like a homosexual Western European, despite being straight and living in America, I’ll choose to go with the over the shoulder/cross shoulder carryall.
Until then, I choose to go with the timeless look afforded by a contemporary-looking briefcase, whether it be soft or hard leather.
You can keep your ‘up-to-date’, european fashion. I’ll keep my kilts, classic suits, and my 60’s style, beach bum attire and not feel like I’m going to get rammed up the ass if I bend over, thank you.

Literally one of the most over-used statements on this topic.
How bout this, I’m SOOOO fucking secure with my sexuality that I anticipated this generic comment from people like you, and I know I have nothing to worry about.

well when the world is going in such a GAY fucking direction, IM more than glad that America is “behind” other countries. My mom calls it “pussification” of society…think about it, gayness is on the rise, women have more power than they ever have and little boys who act like BOYS are told that they need to take meds to make them “normal”, in other words to calm them down, make them morel like the girls.
A REAL MAN is hard to come by these days, and you think that American dudes need to start wearing purses? give me a fucking break. THIS IS THE GREATEST COUNTRY, all others SUCK, so fuck them, and get like us fuckers!
soon guys in spain will start wearing makeup, and we as Americans will be known as STUBBORN and “behind the times”, this is garbage mentality, quit fucking looking down on your fellow Americans for gods sake or just do everyone including yourself a favor and move to fruitcake-ville

“Gayness” is not on the rise. The stigma behind homosexuality is slowly being erased so people are being more open about it. Why is this the greatest country? What other countries have you been to that allow you to know this? I’m not saying that the USA is a “bad” country, but why do you insist so adamantly that it’s the best, and how do you know this? Oh, and regarding the whole point of men being emasculated here, have you ever noticed that women are also being “masculated” in many ways as well? It goes both ways.
OMG, it’s pretty funny how something as inconsequential as a bag makes some guys lose their shit.
Immaturity and insecurity. It’s really simple: if you don’t want to wear something, no one will force you.

Next thing you know, being hygienic is also going to be gay. For those that already think it is:
For those of you looking for an alternative the briefcase with a suit thing. Not big on branding like that, but since some of you are Bateman fans I thought Armani would be appropriate.
I gotta stop LOL, but I’m around this stuff all day!

Fanny packs often have holsters in them, so they are not gay.
tom63 wrote:
The only way it isn’t gay is if it is Maxpedition gear and you can holster a gun in it.
Otherwise it is gay. if you need something to carry your crap in, it would include a gun. Pockets are also an option. If you have more stuff than you can fit in your pockets that does not involve survival, you are a girl.
Maxpedition is great stuff. I had a deployment wearing civilian clothing and carried a Maxpedition bag. It worked great for an M9, 2 extra mags, a GPS, compass, notebook, and protein bars without being bulky or attracting undue attention. I highly recommend the Maxpedition bags.

Nope, a guy doesn’t fall for every sill ass trend to get them to spend more money because some arbitrary people selling crap want you to buy it. Fashion to me might be the most useless industry I can think of. Who else decides that you need new clothes because now a different color is in style.
I’m 46 years old and have seen certain trends come back around twice. It’s bad enough women have bought this crap for years, what aggravates us guys that men are doing it now.
I want a nice suit or sport coat, I call my tailor. I need to carry crap to my office, I use a nylon briefcase with a holster built inside. I wear polo shirts , dress pants, and khakis. Some from 5.11 or Blackhawk that I can fit a gun in or other necessary crap. And necessary crap is a wallet or flashlight, not lip gloss, a pocket mirror, or some other silly thing estro boys need.
DB Cooper has it right. There are classic looks that work for a reason. Telling me I need some silly purse is ridiculous. Hell, even when I’m taking patient folders home from the ofcfce, I don’t need a briefcase. It’s just a way for me to carry concealed. All the necessary stuff I need is on my person or in my truck.
