Making It Up As I Go Log...

10/9/10

Squats: I went very high bar tonight.

BarX10
135X5
225X5
315X3
405X2
Add knee wraps
495X1 Action at 4:10 this was stupid easy.

545X1 This was stupid hard. I let my elbows drift forward and my knees cave. I have a lot more in me if I can get my motherfucking elbows and knees right once I go past 500. This is mostly mental. Action at 4:50

405X5 belt only. At 1:10

Rev. Hyper
someX10 for 3 sets

Paused hack squats.

Did sets of 3 till I got to 6 plates a side and got a single.

decline hawt abbzzz
band G.M.
calf raises

someXsome on each

Guess I should expect to be a little rusty coming back to back squating, but damn it that was bad.

As a side note, I was a bit depleted today. I was an usher at a buddy’s wedding yesterday. Had to wear a 4 layer tux and stand OUTSIDE through an hour and a half wedding in the middle of the afternoon heat. I’ll upload a pic or two once they make thier way onto facebook. This was also the reason for the shaved head. Pretty sure I would have died with any hair.

Yeah. These dudes get more interesting as time goes on.

Ok, Shit got crazy at work due to the 10/15 deadline and I had to take a whole fucking week off. Shit sucks but we did geyt everything done we needed to at the office, so small victory. I still felt stiff as fuck from all the sitting in front of a computer and not moving for 12-15 hours per day. Eh, lets roll.

10/16/10

TOTAL BODY TRAINING!!! I had not hit anything in a whole week, so I hit everything. Also, like a dumbass I forgot my notebook. So I am reasonably sure that this is what I did:

Squats:
barX10
135X8
225X5
315X5
405X5
Add knee wraps
500X3
Action at 4:10 I left a bit in the tank on these.

Standing DB push press:
50sX15
75sX10
100sX6
At about 0:50 Doing them two at a time was a challenge. I liked this.

DB rows:
81.2X15
151.2X10
221.2X8
291.2X15 ish. PR sortakindamaybeish
Action at 1:50

Got kinda hungry towards the end of that set and nearly took a bite out of the 125s. I decided against it at the last minute.

DB flat bench
75sX10 30sec or so rest then X10 again
100sX10 30sec or so rest then X10 again

Dips:
BDW X15 for 2 sets

Pull-ups:
4 sets of 5 with varying grips.

Band Good Mornings:

Floor JM press
225X12 for 2 sets

Done.

10/19/10

Sled “sprints”

I did a few and then walked with it for a while. In case you are blind and have a brail computer, I am a fat ass.

Howdy all.

Training has been going ok of late. This week I got my openers nailed down.

10/24/10

Squats:

Worked up to 500X1. Felt light, fast and easy. Will start here for my squats.

After this did a bunch of pumptastic auxillary stuff for legs and abzz. Legs are feeling good.

10/26/10

Deads.

Worked up to 500X1 here again. Light and fast. This will be the opener.

Again, more pumping type stuff for back, hams and abzz. Felt good.

10/28/10

Bench. Worked up to 405X1 with a long pause. Felt light and fast. Will open with 400 most likely.

A lot of light chest/upper back work.

I took nothing this past week even close to failure, and am feeling good, if somewhat restless. Meet is in 9 days, so in the interum, I plan on doing two light TBT sessions, just to keep loose, and a two, MAYBE 3, cardio sessions. The first one might include sled work, wich will happen the day after tommorrow. This will be based on feel.

Keep up the good work folks.

Kick ass at the meet my friend

Thanks. Right now, not much to do but low stress cardio/pump work type stuff. Oh and hurry up and wait.

you, sir, are my favorite kind of demon.

=)

You’re a beast man. Good luck at the meet.

Ct. Rockula and WhiteFlash,

Thanks fellas.

11/1/10

Last lifting day before the meet.

Stayed light on everything, working on form and explosiveness.

Squats.

Worked up to 315+mini bands X3 with a long pause.

Bench:

Worked up to 225+ monster minis X3 with a long pause for 2 sets

Deads:

Worked up to 315+ monster minis X3

Everything felt light and fast.

Auxillary stuff:

DB incline press
100sX10 for 2 sets

pull ups:
5X5 with varying grips

Band rows, curls, pull aparts, flies, tri presses, G.M.s
someXsome in a circuit fashion.

Incline tread mill walking: 20 minutes.

Will have one more cardio session before the meet. Everything feels pretty good at this point, nerves and restlessness are starting to get too me a slight bit though.

Time to hurry up and wait…

Meet update:

Here is the video:

How it all went down:

I drove up to Plano on Friday. 3 1/2 hours of boring nothingness on 45 and then 75. Weighed in at 294. I didn’t do anything weight cutting wise, as this was my first meet since high school(about 7-8 years ago, I do not remember exactly).

The meet started at about 9:15 on Sat. morning. I had never used a either a monolift or a squat bar before this, and they both threw me out of my groove so to speak. In retrospect, I should have simply walked my squats out, as nothing during warmups felt even close to normal. Oh well, lesson learned. The bar itself felt weird also. Anyway, 500 was my squat opener. Went up as normal as it could have so I tried 550 for my second. Bad move, missed it twice. Combination of meet jitters, the mono, the squat bar, too large of a weight jump(shoulda gone with 525), and me just sucking.

Bench:

Opened with 400. This rocketed to lockout, however, lesson learned from the squat, so I chose 425 for my second. I did not quite feel right on the bench for some reason. Just got off center somehow. My left side stuck a bit longer than my right, but I managed to grind it up. 3 whites. Went with 450 for my third. Still felt off center for some dumb reason, and this time my right side missed my grove and my right elbow shot back towards my head pretty much right off my chest. No lift.

Deads. I was kinda tired and hungry by this time. Next meet, I am packing a fucking cooler. Anyway, opened with 500, and got it easy. 550 for the second, got it real easy for the first 3/4, then a total grind to lockout. Tried 575 for my 3rd, but could not lock it out. Same spot I always fail at.

Total: 1475. I really wish I would have taken 525 for my second squat. Ah, live and learn.

Other general notes: This meet was long as fuck. Started at 9:15 or so, and the last deadlift attempt was at 4:45 or 5:00 in the afternoon. I read up on the rules before hand, and paid special attention to the time requirements given to attempt each lift once the “bar ready” notification is given. Needless to say these were not enforced that much, if at all. This did lead to a more relaxed atmosphere though. My bag of beef jerky and can of trail mix did not hold me over for the whole meet though.

On the whole, I am happy I got a totall, but kinda pissed with myself for my poor choice in 2nd squat attempt. I also did not adjust well to the monolift and should have just walked out my damn squats.

The drive back was equally boring. Ok, enough rambling.

I’ve got a lot of work to do.
