Making It Up As I Go Log...

6/2/10

Bench night. I had planned on getting some floor presses in, but training buddy was MIA, so dumbbells were the order of the night.

50sX15
75sX10
100sX10
125sX8
140sX8
161.2sX8 2 rep PR
181.2sX3 1 rep PR
140sX10

These felt really good. Pain in my left delt/left upper bicep was minimal. It acually went away totally when I got to the heavy lifts.

Dips.

BDWx10
+80LBs X10
+180LBs X1

First two sets felt great. Second set, I felt this sharp, wierd spasm through my left front delt and upper left bicep. Stopped there, and did a bunch of band pressing, band flies, and band curls to get some blood into the area. Not exactly sure what the hell the problem is with this.

Tri chain presses
2X20

On the whole a good session. Just got to get my left bi/delt figured out and things will be good.

6/7/10

Squat night:

barX10
135X8
225X5
315X5
405X5
475X2
500X3
500X3
405X12

Felt better this night. Bar path felt good and 500 is starting to feel “rep-able” again. I was wanting more reps out of 405, but the bar rolled back on my fingers towards the end and I decided to rack it rather than get halfway through a rep and ditch it. I think I may rep 405 fresh next time and see how it goes.

hack squats, paused:
+90X5
+270X5
+360X5
+450X5
+500X1

Felt good here also.

Band G.M. and v-ups in a circut
3X10

It was a decent enough night, inspite of the days off due to seeing family and traveling.

Also, my sled came in last night. Awsomeness. Now, I just have to wait for Sat. to get some dragging/conditioning work in.

Holy shit. I have to get better at posting this stuff more frequently. Anyway, here is what I have done since my last update.

6/9/10

Millitary press night:

barX20
95X12
135X8
225X5
265X1
230+80LB chain X0
started this, then failed to lockout. Damn.
275X2

Seated DB millitary
100sX17 R.P. X5

Smith machine JM press
135X10
225X8
275X5
315X4

I was really just figuring this movement out and playing with it for a bit. I think this has some potential.

6/11/10

Deadlift night.

135X8
225X5
315X5
405X5
500X3
500+80LB chains X3

I tried for 4 here, but stoped myself when I felt I started to hitch. Only way to break this habbit is to never do it I think.

410+80LBs chain X8

DB rows

100sX10
140sX10
221.2X8
300(sort of)X10 right arm

In an attempt to up the wieght, I just looped some chains around my wrist. I doubt I will do this again as it was uncomfortable as hell. Narration by my training buddy. We have had rather hectic schedules of late, and most of our training has been on our own for a while. It was a bit of luck that we ran into each other there.

300(sort of) X10ish left arm

This video really shows just how uncoordinated I am. The only way I can figure this is that I have always been right handed, and my left one just does not cooperate. Its not a huge deal though, as I think this movement may have run its course for the time being.

pull-ups
BDW
3X5
kept rest periods short here and focused on these from a deadhang at the bottom.

6/14/10

DB bench
45sX12
75sX10
100sX8
125sX5
140sX5
181.2sX2
181.2sX2
These 2 sets really pissed me off. I was hoping to break 3 with these but fell short. Balance appears to be an issue here. This is more total volume with this weight than I have done before though.

171.2sX4

Felt ok with this. tied an old PR with this weight. probably could have done more without the 181.2 lifts.

125sX17 R.P. X7

Pretty happy with this though.

Dips:
BDW
X20
X15
X14
Kept the rest short between these.

Fat grip seated hammer curls
50sX10
for 3 sets

6/16/10

Squat
BarX10
135X8
225X5
315X5
405X5
500X3
420+80LBs chain X6 1 rep PR

Paused leg press
+1000X5
+1090X5
+1180X3

Reverse hypers
2X10

Seated calf raises
someXsome varying foot position

6/18/10

millitary press
barX15
95X10
135X8
225X3
255X2
275X2 Dammit. Really wanted 3 here, but had no lockout strength left.

225X8

This set was ok I guess. I might get to 10 with this weight if I could learn some balance.

Seated millitary press
125sX10 R.P. X4

Smith machine JM press
barX10
135X8
225X8
315X7
315X9

Felt good with these and will likely move up in weight next session. Hopefully this will help with bench and millitary press lockout strength.

You’re awesomely strong man

Thanks dude. Just checked your log, and solid lifting.

Some serious lifting going on here. Lifts are awesome!
Those 300 x 10 rows are crazy.

Thanks man. I think I will start posting these in the BOI as well.

Thanks for reading my incomprehensible rambling dude.

6/22/10

Deadlift night.

Deads:
135X8
225X5
315X5
405X5
495X3

545X1

585X1

Hitch. Less of one, but still there dammit. enough to make me consider switching to sumo.

RDL: got set for these, and found out I forgot/lost(not sure which yet) my straps. I said fuck it and just did it. Hands were hurting later on though.
315X6
315X10

T-bars
3platesX8
5platesX8

7platesX5
7platesX5

Pullups from dead hang
BDW X 7 for 3 sets

some improvement here, still needs work.

Been out for a bit. Back now though. I still managed to hit the gym but it was rather sporadic due to outside concerns. At any rate, My current plan is to do the SPF fall madness meet in Dallas on Nov. 6th. Here is how training last time went.

7/16/10

Bench/a littl upper back/some arms ect. yadda yadda

Worked up to 325X10. The was hands down, the worst lift off I have ever had. Right when it happened, I remembered why I never randomly asked people for lift offs before. Fuck. Anyway:

DB bench, with a pause.
140sX5 for 2 sets

Blast strap pull ups
3X5

Dips
BDWX22
X10
This last set I moved in along the handles to a narrower grip setting in hopes of hitting my tris more.

Hammer curls
50sX10
75sX10
100sX12

Jumped rope for a while, then called it a night.

7/19/10

Deads, other back stuff, band GM, abzz, yadda yadda…

Deads. Worked up to 460X10. Stopped at ten to focus on form and such. This felt better than 445 did last week. Will bump the weight again next week.

Barbell rows
225X8
315X8
365X5

Blast strap pull ups.
50 reps total. This worked out to be 10X5.

heavy band Band GM, v-ups and a bit of jump rope

7/20/10

M.P. and auxillaries.

M.P.

worked up to 230X9

Front raises:

50sX10
75sX10
85sX10

Bent over rear delt fly/lateral raise hybrid that I have not come up with a better name for yet.

50X8
75X8
100X8

Smith JM press:

135X10
225X10
315X10*

  • asterisk due to the fact that I discovered this smith has counter weights on it. I do not know how much they take off, but I’m sure its something. Upon inspection, unless I bring in a set of wrenches(an option) I cannot disengage them.

7/23/10

Squats:

worked up to 460X5

Then 405X10

The knee wraps are starting to feel more “natural” for lack of a better word. I need to work on sitting down more instead of the sit back habbit that I got into with low-bar squats. Eh, more preactice next week, with another weight bump. I think I will do each rep from a pause at the top from now on in an attempt to hammer home the decent.

Chain suspended good mornings:

135X8
225X5
275X5

Hack squats with a long pause at the bottom:

sledX5
+180X5
+360X5
+450X5

Jump rope, heavy band G.M., and v-up circuits.

First off, Ninny, nice pull dude.

7/24/10

Bench night.

WOrked up to 355X7.

Spent a good bit of time explaining exactly how a lift off is supposed to work, and that part went very well. I forgot to tell my spotter to not help me until I fialed however. To give him credit, he waited longer than most would have, but I still wish I could have tried to grind out rep 8. Oh, well, another night.

Paused DB bench.

100sX8
125sX5
140sX5 for 2 sets.

Hammer curls:

75sX10
100sX10
120sX10

These were a bit sloppier than I would like. Next time I will work on being more strict.

Smith JM press.

Worked up to 4 plates per side for a single. Probably only about 360LBs though due to the counterweights.

Called it a night as the gym was being locked when I got out of the smith
