Hi guys,
The CDC is sending around advice about what to do with suspicious packages. USPS is telling people that the following criteria are suspicious. So you don’t want your packages looking like this:
Some characteristics of suspicious packages and letters include the following…
??Excessive postage
??Handwritten or poorly typed addresses
??Incorrect titles
??Title, but no name
??Misspellings of common words
??Oily stains, discolorations or odor
??No return address
??Excessive weight
??Lopsided or uneven envelope
??Protruding wires or aluminum foil
??Excessive security material such as masking tape, string, etc.
??Visual distractions
??Ticking sound
??Marked with restrictive endorsements, such as “Personal” or “Confidential”
??Shows a city or state in the postmark that does not match the return address

I know this is an old post but w.e.

PROTURUDING WIRES?!? Yep, that just sets off all kinds of alarm bells.

As to odor, if it smells like shit, send it back.

dude, 8 years old.

this thread was made 8 years ago.

8 years… a little over month after 9/11 so it was a concern especially then…why are you looking at such old posts…i could see 2008 maybe even 2007 but a dead post from 2001?!

Adding one:

  • If the return label reads “Theodore Kaczynski - Lincoln, Montana”

LOL, “Ticking sound”!

Hahhahah!

I too am interested to know how you came upon this thread, and not only that, but why you felt compelled to revive it.

Not only was this right after 9/11, but it was also right after the Anthrax letters that came into play about 1-2 weeks after 9/11 and the postal system had to SERIOUSLY step up their game.

I’ve seen lots of old users with this number of posts. Why is this? Why this number? I need answers mods.

I think it is because of the old webpage format. Back in ancient times there was a mailbag but not really a forum.

But where does that number come from? Why that specific number? WHY?!

  • Mods where are you? This question will plague me for the rest of my life if you don’t give me some answers. LowfatMatt? Anyone? *

I guess that explains a little, or a lot things were pretty crazy around then. teachers talking like the terrorists had plans to blow our school up. Like some shit school in northern Ontario was really going to be a target.

And about reviving the thread, it showed up on a search I did, cant remember what for but it caught my eye so here I am.

Eight years, almost to the day. That has to be some sort of record. I’ve seen threads revived from four years back, but not eight. Nice work andrew_live.

Protruding wires and ticking sound are hilarious!

I don’t know why, but everytime I go to the post office, and I see the flat rate boxes that say “60 pounds,” the only thing I can think of is putting a 60 pound dumbbell in the box and mailing it somewhere LOL.

EH!! send it here, That’d be great, just start shipping dumbells. Mail handlers would be going WTF!?! this is so heavy! (Heavy for them not for t-muscles).

Up top is some suspicious mail.
