Lucky Louie on HBO

This show makes me feel like someone has been following me around to make fun of my marriage.

It is far and away the most accurate representation of what marriage is like inside a guy’s head.

Been watching since the first episode. Not bad. At first I was worried it was going fall into the trap of trying to be all about sex, as the first two episodes talked about nothing but (don’t get me wrong, I love sex, but there’s only so much you can say about it on a sitcom before it’s not that funny anymore). I think it’s going to be fine, though.

They have a pretty entertaining Sunday lineup now, with Entourage, Louie and Tourgasm.

Yeah, its disturbingly accurate. The action figure one must NEVER fall into my wife’s hands…

Not sure here. I was actually discussing this with a friend of mine earlier today. Is this show at least partially imrpov? It seems to have a lot of uncomfortable pauses / silence and is honestly just barely enough to keep me watching.

It seems like so much more could be done with it in theory, but all it really has going for it is profanity. If you took that away and put it on network TV, it would get shit canned IMMEDIATELY (not saying that network TV is the definitive measure of good vs. bad, either).

I am going to continue watching it in hopes that the characters become something I give a damn about and because I have a lot of respect for the shows HBO puts on the air. But so far, I’m not totally sold.

Are you married?

It isn’t a comedy.

It’s a documentary.

I am. I understand that. I’m just saying I don’t think it as quick as it could be. And therefore not as entertaining. I dunno, it’s hard to put my finger on.

I did say that if you took the profanity away it would suck, but maybe I should take that back. There are some redeeming moments in it (mostly stuff I can identify with).

Like I said, it just hasn’t won me over yet. But I am still watching it regularly.

I know exactly what your talking about. The show has an amateurish quality about it that I like. Others might now. I think the cast is just getting used to the live studio audience.

I see that. That is kinda endearing.

I think it’s fucking hilarious.
Jim norton is awesome… (albeit freaky)

I think the first few episodes were a little rough around the edges, (acting wise - the comedy was still great)

i think this weeks episode (where he called her a cunt) was much better (acting wise)

so i think they are indeed getting used to each other.

Yes i’m married, so i do get it, like the other married fella’s

i really hope they do a season 2 after this one.

I’m glad it’s not packaged like any other crappy sitcom, but even if it was I think the content would still make it worth watching to me.

I’m a red-headed guy, I’m married to a nurse, I’ve jacked off in a closet, I lie to her about stupid shit like what kind of food I eat, I’ve bought stupid shit (mostly video games) that I’ve hidden from her, and I called her a cunt–ONCE–on Saturday for the first time.

I’m saying I can relate to the show.

It’s hilarious because of its simplicity. I don’t understand why they have her as a nurse though. Nurses make good money.

She could be an LVN. They make shit.
