Low T Options for a 48 YO

In January, I went to the doctor for a physical had them run a total Testosterone test. The numbers came back as 220 range 220-1100. I have been feeling tired (exhausted in the morning), apathetic, and have decreased stamina in the gym (I cant push myself), and have gained some extra weight, and no motivation. Some other numbers:

—Triglycerides(58-149) 223
----Cholesterol, Total(158-199) 167
----Non-HDL Cholesterol(<130) 128
----HDL Cholesterol(40-63) 39
----LDL Cholesterol (Calc.)(<100) 83
----VLDL Cholesterol (Calc.)(12-29) 45
----Total Cholesterol:HDL Ratio(<4.5) 4.3

Cortisol:
AM cortisol, saliva 10.2
NOON cortisol, saliva 1.2
AFTER cortisol, saliva 2.2
EVE cortisol, saliva 0.4

I have a decent metabolism (but apparently a more decent appetite) so the extra weight around the midsection has been a little frustrating.

I am trying to figure out next steps. Do I turn to supplements? Do I need to try doing anything with my diet? Do I go see an endocrinologist? Am I looking at testosterone therapy? Are there alternatives? Any reading (blogs, posts, books, etc) that can be suggested, or guidance or advice that anyone wants to give to a 48 year old guy, is appreciated.

You need these labs:
TT=220
FT
E2
LH/FSH before TRT only
DHEA-S
CBC
fasting glucose
A1C
Hematocrit
AST/ALT
PSA
DRE before TRT
TSH

Please use [edit] in lower RH corner above and add lab ranges to your post.

Total cholesterol getting too low, 180 is ideal.
HDL is too low. These can help:
DHEA 25mg if DHEA-S lowish
high potency B-complex multi-vits with trace elements, no iron, with iodine and selenium
natural source vit-E
Vit-C and other anti-oxidants
fish oil, nuts, flax seed oil/meal

Please read these stickies:

  • advice for new guys
  • things that damage your hormones
  • finding a TRT doc

Do you use iodized salt?
Do you feel cold easily?
Outer eyebrows sparse?
