In January, I went to the doctor for a physical had them run a total Testosterone test. The numbers came back as 220 range 220-1100. I have been feeling tired (exhausted in the morning), apathetic, and have decreased stamina in the gym (I cant push myself), and have gained some extra weight, and no motivation. Some other numbers:
—Triglycerides(58-149) 223
----Cholesterol, Total(158-199) 167
----Non-HDL Cholesterol(<130) 128
----HDL Cholesterol(40-63) 39
----LDL Cholesterol (Calc.)(<100) 83
----VLDL Cholesterol (Calc.)(12-29) 45
----Total Cholesterol:HDL Ratio(<4.5) 4.3
Cortisol:
AM cortisol, saliva 10.2
NOON cortisol, saliva 1.2
AFTER cortisol, saliva 2.2
EVE cortisol, saliva 0.4
I have a decent metabolism (but apparently a more decent appetite) so the extra weight around the midsection has been a little frustrating.
I am trying to figure out next steps. Do I turn to supplements? Do I need to try doing anything with my diet? Do I go see an endocrinologist? Am I looking at testosterone therapy? Are there alternatives? Any reading (blogs, posts, books, etc) that can be suggested, or guidance or advice that anyone wants to give to a 48 year old guy, is appreciated.
