Low T, End of Genetic Potential???

Been reading a bit of the other posts, but sill not sure where I fall as I still need to do some extra tests.
35
5’11
Waist 36"
Weight 230

My look is not very muscular as body fat tends to cover it all up. No changes in body and facial hair, but i cant grow a beard have bald spot s in my cheeks. Most of the fat I carry is in the belly area, love handles.
What drove me to get a T checkup was the fact that I have been lifting for a few years and have not been able to achieve the results I have wanted yet I have been able to train people and get very good results. I have been lifting for 4-5 yrs lifts are decent i think but It seems I cannot grow muscle.

My energy level seems to have really dropped in the past year. Waking up is almost impossible, always feel tired and sleepy during the day with no drive or energy. I think the only moment when i do have energy is for getting under the weights…all out.

Woody is fine and so is sexual drive. No problems there, i think. Unless i’m missing out!

Really not sure if I added unneccesary stuff in here, but just in case. I know that i need to take some additional tests. just le me know what they are if not I will pick them up from the stickies. Any ideas, thoughs, recommendations, feel free to have at it. My attending doctor is GP but I have a good relationship with him so i should be ok with him. But we;'ll see.

Mike

I DON’T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE LAB STUFF, but you won’t look muscular at 5’11 230 lbs without drugs. Lose the fat and you’ll see the muscle. $0.02. Bye.

Glad to see you took my advice! Read the lab work sticky and post results, temperatures and other symptoms. This is the way to get help from the experienced and knowledgable guys. Good luck on your journey!

hmm…I’m 5’10 233 and look muscular. No visible abs or anything, but still muscular. No drugs.

But yea, I forgot that powerlifters look muscular. wtf. Brainfart.

I’m guessing you guys still want to see these, right? Free Testosterone, LH, FSH, Estradiol, Prolactin.

Working on it.

More lab results…

Lipid Panel

Cholesterol 186.00 Ref. 131.00 - 200.00
Triglycerides 102.00 Ref. 0.00 - 150.00
HDL 42.00 Ref. 23.00 - 92.00
VLDL 20.40 Ref. 5.00 - 40.00
LDL 123.60 Ref. 66.00 - 100.00

Doc said that my cholesterol is border line high, gonna see if I look into it more. LDL seems high, it may be because of the fish oil that i take which has done miracles for my joints with pain rarely present if at all.

Tomorrow I am headed to the lab to get the following as recommended by the stickies:

FSH
LH
ESTRADIOL
PROLACTIC LVLS
FREE TESTOSTERONE

Personal Assignment: Keep on reading stickies.

You cholesterol is not high. Towards the top of the range is fine as long as triglycerides and DLs are in check.

Hey guys, i have been monitoring my temps, and so far this is what i have got. Woke up during the night and my temerature was 96.5, during the day i have had mid 97 and 98 flat. 98 is the highest i have registered so far.

Some new results as requested:

Free Test 9.10 Ref. 4.00 - 30.0
FSH 2.72 Ref. 1.4 - 18.1
LH 2.13 Ref. 1.5 - 9.3
Prolactin 7.83 Ref. 2.1 - 17.7
Estradiol 28.82 Ref. ND - 39.8

You want to increase Free T and/or decrease E2. Your E2 wouldn’t be bad if your free T was in the 20s.

You could try the supplement route and try to make incremental improvements. You could also try a low dose SERM to get LH and hopefully Free T up. That’s probably the easiest way to get Free T up, but you’ll probably be opening up a can of worms on E2. You’ll probably need to add an AI and do a reasonable amount of testing to dial it in.

Supplements - For sure want to take a multi and more D. You could also add magnesium oil. Added mag and increased DHEA. You could try 9mg daily of boron. Studies show increase in Free T and decrease in E2. You could also try DIM for E2 metabolism or some liver supplements. Maybe Calcium d-glucarate. It would be interesting to see what this does to your numbers. Probably lower E2 but not sure it’s going to show a huge increase in Free T. It would be good to know what your DHEA-s is ( probably low). Supplementing DHEA if it’s low could provide a modest improvement. The mag oil should provide a bump.

Im going to look into some of the stuff you mentioned above. But, should I begin supplementing the iodine first to take care of that issue first? I’ve recorded temps as low as 96.3 when waking up so I have already ordered Iodoral and waiting for it to arrive. My wife and I basically eat the same foods and we noticed that her temps are also running low.

So on the above: Multis are a given, D i can add (how much more?) Magnesium i have in the ZMA, do I add more? Boron and DIM I can try but are all these to be used together or are they to be attempted seperately and tested? (and/or?)

Iodine never really worked for me. Talk to KSman about that. Probably need full thyroid labs.

You can try whatever you like. If you feel like experimenting and can test on a semi-regular basis, It might be interesting to add Vit d and 9mg Boron to see what happens. I would test DHEA-s at the same time to see if improvements can be made there. Add some Mag oil or DHEA and retest DHEA-s, Free T and E2.

D - I take 6000IU daily. 2000IU in my multi and then an extra 2000IU in the morning and at night. Haven’t tested to see where I’m at so who knows.

Magnesium - Mag oil is supposed to increase DHEA, which would be a good thing. It appears to have done this for me. Only two tests showing a difference, so take it for what it’s worth.

Boron - I have at least one study showing a modest increase in Free T and reduction in E2. I think it’s also supposed to help with Vit D absorption. My concern is no one offering a suggested mechanism for the increase. SHBG did not decrease.

DIM - Supposed to help with E2 metabolism/clearance. I don’t take it, but have in the past. No lab work to point to. I was changing too many things at the same time.

Calcium d-Glucarate - I take this. Supposed to help with E2 clearance. Who knows. Should be good for overall detox, so what the hell.

lef.org DHEA has worked well for me. 25mgs took we over the normal range, but I was reasonably high in the range without it.

What amounts of the SERM(Novadex), would be a good starting dose? And which AI? My doc will probably just give me what I say anyways so it should be pretty easy to dial it in myself.
