Low Free T / high T

Hi guys.

Bit of help needed. I had my t levels checked as I had TC when I was younger. I’m now 50 and have brain fog, low mood and find it difficult to put on muscle.

Sexually I’m fine, decent boners and can go for a while so no issue.

My T level is 22 on a reference guide of 8-23 nmol/l

Free t is very low at 0.17 on a ref guide of 0.16 to 0.4

SHBG is at the limit.

The doctor recommended Boron to bring down the SHBG but I’m not sure that is going to help.

Any thoughts?

I’ve bought some testogel from an online pharmacy in the uk and think I should try the starting dose to see if my free t increases.

My personal experience is that with blood test to prove it, I did see an increase in free T after a few weeks of use at 3mg daily. I’ve since then just always included boron with my daily vitamins. Every little bit helps. However, not everyone sees benefit from boron. It’s sorta hit and miss. Also, the increase, if there is one, may not be enough to notice a difference in how you feel. So, your doc is trying a legit idea, just one that may not be effective enough, if at all. Worth a try though.

Expect nothing, this is nothing more than wishful thinking. Your doctor doesn’t understand how the endocrine system works. The lowering of SHBG in isolation doesn’t increase Free T, LH and your testicles response to LH is what drives testosterone production.

Often times high SHBG is a direct result of declining testosterone, since androgens suppress SHBG, therefore a lack of sufficient androgens causes SHBG to rise.

The first thing that happens in the majority of cases of men that initiate TRT is a decrease in SHBG.

You will NOT fix this naturally!

Take this guy as an example, on ExcelMale thread title “20 year-old full hormone panel. Thoughts?”

Total Testosterone LC/MS: 1,238 H (250-1100) high
Free Testosterone Equilibrium Dialysis: 195.6 H (35-155) high
LH: 5.4 (1.5-9.3)
FSH: 5.3 (1.6-8)
SHBG: 65 H (10-50) high
Estradiol, Ultrasensitive LC/MS: 36 H (<=29) high

SHBG doesn’t decrease Free T. You have two separate issues going on concurrently.

The high SHBG isn’t a causal factor in your low Free T, it is a side effect of something else.

Thanks for the replies.

My issue is that UK doctors are useless and see that total T is in range and tell you to go and enjoy life.

My free t is on the floor and getting a doctor to help with this is impossible.

I’ve bought the gel and just want to try but there is so much misinformation and half truths.

I’ve read to start with two pumps a day. Rub into shoulders.

None of this means the boron is going to work, it’s a desperate attempt to avoid reality.

Boron doesn’t increase testosterone and if you managed to lower SHBG by half, the only thing that would change is the accuracy of the lab test. You would feel the SAME.

This is not true, Balance My Hormones and The Men’s Health Clinic can help.
