Exactly, I’d say something to her, and probably say something to the conductor, but what else am I supposed to do in that situation? This is my experience as well with NJ Transit. They just started the quiet car concept and the conductors have no problems confronting loud passengers. Even in the trains without the quiet car, I’ve seen conductors threaten to kick passengers off for disruptive behavior.

OK, that might be true. So why didn’t they just tell a conductor? It was a designated quiet car. I’m sure the conductor would’ve had no problem telling her fat ass to go to another car or get the fuck off the train.
