Losing Fat on TRT

I don’t know if this is the right place to post this.

I’m 34 6’2’ 250# 30-40% bf guessing. A little background on me is as follows. I have always been active and in great shape. up until 2yrs ago I was 205lb and 8-12% bf. when I was around 28yrs old or so I followed a few fools on a cycle or two without knowing really what I was doing. All was great I was stronger then ever and felt like a king among men. I lived to work, eat, lift and fuck. Then I met a great women and a lot of things changed. I moved and my work schedule changed.

I was off of all cycles and back to just normal lifting and diet. I moved up the food chain in my career which meant less of a physical job and more of a desk job. The last two years my physical health has went down the tubes. I have gained about 45lbs. My sex drive and libido has left in a big way. shit got tough. I have finally went to the doctor and found out my total T was 177 and my free T was 7. I have been on TRT for only 8-9 weeks.

Here is where I need help. My sex drive has came back since starting TRT. My energy or drive has not. For me diet has always been a struggle but I have always been able to keep it within 80% compliance because of my lifting and looks. Now my looks are shit as far as body goes and my strength is gone. It has been hell trying to get going in the gym. I start then stop and start again.

I feel like if I can get past this first 20 god damn pounds I will be able to get going again. My question to all you guys is what do you suggest would be the quickest route to shedding that first 20lbs? I always loved the gym and was able to keep the diet in check because of that. but know I am in such a damn mess I can’t get it going. I am not asking for any quick fixes. I also know that something like the v diet is to extreme for me to stick to at this moment. I just need a quick kick in the ass to drop some serious pounds while I work out the soreness and fall back in love with the pain of the iron. I need some results that will motivate me to get at it.

Circuit training will allow you to burn a lot of fat while working through the soreness. If done correctly, effort will = results

You will probably hear just as many diet ideas as there are floating around these days. A couple of practical ideas would be to make sure your thyroid hormones are keeping up with demand and avoiding packaged food.

Whenever someone is struggling I convince them to do a “Whole 30”. I’m not all about some schmucks naming clean eating for a month and making money off it, but this shit is decent. They are a brand, but the information is also good.

At a minimum… it might get you on track, and teach you the basics again.

Check out the book “It Starts With Food” on Amazon.

Thanks guys. I will check out the “whole 30” thing and also look for that book.

Circuits are definitely great fat burners. Also will allow for a shorter workout time which will help at the start.

I was already in good shape and I switched to the Paleo diet. Body fat melts off. I was shocked.

Give it 6 months and the fat will start melting away on its own. Once your body adjusts to the higher T, your metabolism will increase on its own. I’ve lost 20lbs in a year and eat like a lion. I am 6", was 215 a year ago with bit of a pot belly, now I’m a lean 195. Been on 100mg week T for a year now. Took about 3 months before I started noticing weight/fat drop.

You are seeking a change to your metabolic balance. You need decent T levels and favorable E2 levels. Additionally, your thyroid function needs to be good. Please read these stickies:

  • advice for new guys, post all lab data with ranges
  • thyroid basics, check body temps and review your sources of iodine.

Bossman, I’m right there with you. In fact my total T was 177 and free was 7.3 . I’ve gained about 15lbs since starting(been on it right at a year), I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been, and and it’s almost impossible for me to lose the weight. So I certainly understand your frustration. Don’t have much value to add to the thread but best of luck man.
