I thought floor press was supposed to be easier then bench…I almost popped a vessel trying to push 405. I used military as a cool down…tris were wiped. I anchored my feet and did a twist cruch-punch the punchung bag- one set to failure then a few after resting.[/quote]
It’s that pause at the bottom. And for some people the floor press hits that changeover spot where the tri’s take over from the chest which makes it harder for them (me)
I took an 80 lb db outside for something different. I alternated 1 arm clean and press, 1 arm row, goblet squats, overhead carries and push ups with sets of 10 tire flips. After sitting for a while I did a few sets of sprints/jog with my 12 year old nephew. I beat him the first time and was sucking air and being shown I’m not 12 after that.

thanks Bunny, I’m waiting for the book I ordered (3 day a week training) to get here before I do any heavy lifting. Until then I’ve been flipping my tire, doing pushups, pull ups, sandbag stuff…all outside for a change. This stuff takes a ton out of you and gets my heart rate sky high.
tire flipx6-10 flips at a time followed by one of the following:
pullups
burpees
plyo jumps
pushups with feet on tire
Pullups on the kids swing set. I did 2 rounds and then flipped the tire 100 feet or so back to where I keep it. My wife doesn’t want it out where it can be seen. I want to get the sandbag out tonight and run around the yard some more.

Does the wife care if the neighbors see you with your tire and sandbag? LOL
she’s gotten used to it. But I was doing plyometric jumps off the tire yesterday and my oldest son said,‘dad what are you doing?’, in a more embarrased then curious tone.

Just leave the tire in the front yard and plant flowers in it. Very chic down here. I get the “what are you doing…now” all the time. Keeps em guessing.

Thanks soldog. Keeping up the non lifting stuff as well. I feel great. I notice a difference with just a couple weeks of aerobic type work. Tonight lifting then tire flips-my favorite new exercise.
I’m excited about starting my new lifting program by Jim Wendler. Hoping to set new PRs in the next couple months.
