Looking for Advice on My Program

Ditto.

Eco,

Don’t know how I missed this thread before, it is most excellent! Some great weights you are throwing around mate, a belated welcome from me.

Burnesy

Been hanging low lately. Trying to get my body fat down and start lifting heavy again this summer. Don’t laugh but I’ve been doing P90X workouts…its actually very tough. I hope that being away from traditional weightlifting for awhile will peak my motivation again…was feeling burned out.

I dunno what P90X is. I couldn’t imagine you doing anything other an effective training set, so it must be tough.

I think sometimes a change is needed to keep one interested in the pursuit.

Nice to have you back.

Glad you are posting again, and nothing to apologize for, Ecogenx. I am sure you will carry this out with the same intensity. Just keep us up to date, so that maybe we can learn something from what you are doing.

Don’t they have a vaccination for that?
Ain’t no sin in changing it up. Whatever gets you to where you want to be is the best workout for you.

Made it to the gym today. I haven’t lifted weights for a while so went lighter then usual. Tried something different again.

6/13
A1 squat 315x6x6
A2 bench 245x6x6
A3 neutral grip chin BWx6x6

almost threw up, had to cut the rest of the workout short

B1 clean 155x1x6
B2 1 arm db military 65x1x6
B3 incline sit up throwing small medicine ball against wall and catching it

Gave my notice at work yesterday, on to a new place. This should give me more time to train (in 3 weeks). Also, will be less stressful, so I should eat better…I’m a stress eater big time.

Good luck eco with the new job. Keep up with the workouts as much as you can. Make time if possible to get in some work to manage your stress levels.

mday

Second that. You definitely don’t need to worry about losing too much strength when you are away from standard weightlifting. Take care of yourself.

Ecogenx, thanks for the danjohn.org O lift link…wow! Anyone planning to perform olympic lifts, especially without prior training, would be well advised to watch and listen to the one hour video of Dan teaching the O lifts.

6/15
Lifted in the basement today. My quads are killing me from that little workout friday, so I stayed away from any squating movements. Almost need a spot getting off the couch.

a1. stiff deads 275x5x5
a2.close grip bench 225x5x5
a3. 1 arm db row 100x5x5

Everything felt relatively light today. Except my aerobic capacity is terrible. When i try to pick up the pace btw sets I just die.

GO CELTICS!!!

6/16
Hit the gym this morning before work.
My legs still ache. Hopefully I can squat tomorrow.

A.1 arm db military 75x5x5
B.standing calf machine 300,250,200,150,100 each for 10 reps with minimal rest(~30 sec)in between
C1.rope pushdown 100x5 setsx5reps
C2.cable curl 100x5 setsx5reps
I used the same machine for the pushdowns and curls-super set style

Overall today was on the lighter side again. Want to get into a groove with this new job-I start july 7th.

Looks like you are on the verge of a new outlook Eco… once you start this new job I think you are going to explode…

Late ‘your welcome’ to Swaggert. That danjohn.org video about O lifts is very helpful.

A great feeling I’d like to have more often. You are lifting in addition to the other program you mentioned? That’s impressive.

Geech, don’t be to impressed. I do one or the other. Right now I feel like lifting again after reading your blogs and seeing you guys reaching new PRs.
I’m hoping with the reduced stress in my life (job related) I may be more apt to workout consistantly. Remains to be seen.
But reading your blog and skids, burnesys, soldogs, etc. really can be a motivating thing.

That’s what we are here for, too!

6/17 basement
front squat 135x5, 225x5, 275x5, 315x5

I wanted to pyramid up then back down. But on rep 3 with 315 I went really low and felt pain in my lower quad/inner knee. I finished reps 4 and 5. But when I tried 275 again it was a no go.

Throw some ice on there Eco… and rest it up.

How does it feel today… any discoloration or swelling?

Gotta watch that. I have to warm up really good on front squats if I want to go low with heavy FS or the same thing happens to me. Good call, stopping there. The pyramid back down doesn’t do anything much for you anyway.
