I read a study where a guy fasted for seven days, and tracked it with bloodwork before and after. Before the fast his testosterone was at 26. After 7 days of fasting, his testosterone reached an all time low, and his shbg skyrocketed. But after easing himself back into a healthy diet after the fast, his testosterone levels were at a 31 a month later, and his shbg was lower than his pre fast state. Does anyone have experience with fasting and can relate to these results? There have been guys who have healed themselves from finasteride sides after doing a long term fast, followed by strict diet and workout regime following. I’ve been tempted to follow a regime like this, but worry that the fast could plummet levels completely and they don’t return. Any insight?
Hmmmm seems to make sense… haven’t found food in 7 days, time to stop pumping out the risk-taking sex-having hormone for a little while.
Maybe the future version was less fat than the earlier version?
You can compare the before and after numbers of this sample of one. Means nothing to me without units and ranges. TT?FT
Such variations are normal and expected with healthy males. Be careful that your wishful thinking affects your judgment.
You have several different threads now, with two concerning restarts.
I was on accutane and my body has been destroyed so I’ve been looking into ways to overcome it. A guy named cdnuts on forums online came up with a protocol that has worked for him and many others. It involves long term water fasting followed by paleo diet and training regime, and cycling natural testosterone boosters. A number of guys have had success so I wanted to try it myself but I don’t wanna mess myself up further
And yes, should probably just use on thread to track my progress
So what I’m gathering is, this is probably not a safe way to overcome symptoms?
Here in the Middle East, we fast once a year for 30 days from sunrise until sunset without having a single meal as part of a religious practice , but the benift of this fasting is you cleanse the body from toxins and just fix so many things… YouTube the benift.
This sounds rather bogus; rationalization. Postponing meals is not deep fasting. But if one does training during these periods of fasting till sunset, this can be a stress factor that damages adrenal and thyroid function. And such stress is on top of whatever other stresses or stress history one has.
@KSman I am saying the benifts of fasting are there and they are a lot just a quick search and I found this:
The physiological effect of fasting includes lower of blood sugar, lowering of cholesterol and lowering of the systolic blood pressure. In fact, Ramadan fasting would be an ideal recommendation for treatment of mild to moderate, stable, non-insulin diabetes, obesity and essential hypertension. In 1994 the first International Congress on “Health and Ramadan,” held in Casablanca, entered 50 research papers from all over the world, from Muslim and non-Muslim researchers who have done extensive studies on the medical ethics of fasting. While improvement in many medical conditions was noted; however, in no way did fasting worsen any patients’ health or baseline medical condition. On the other hand, patients who are suffering from severe diseases, whether diabetes or coronary artery disease, kidney stones, etc., are exempt from fasting and should not try to fast.
There are psychological effects of fasting as well. There is a peace and tranquility for those who fast during the month of Ramadan. Personal hostility is at a minimum, and the crime rate decreases. … This psychological improvement could be related to better stabilization of blood glucose during fasting as hypoglycemia after eating, aggravates behavior changes. …
Obviously not fasting and then going to the gym and draining yourself, but the fast is a detox
