Hoping this is the right place to ask for advice. When i was young and daft, i took two courses of steroids without any PCT, literally just the steroids on their own. One around mid 2005 and another in mid 2006. I don’t have any documentation or notes but I’m pretty sure it was “Sus and Deca stack” as I recall , both from fairly respectable local sources. I didn’t start lifting or going to the gym until around 12 months after the second course - as silly as that sounds i was a lost young male hoping steroids would sort some of my problems out but that is a different conversation. Both put weight on my and strangely i slept / fell asleep very well / easily at the end of the day whilst on both cycles (something i’ve always struggled with since).
In 2005 i would have been 17, the second course when i was 18. I didn’t lose my virginity until after the first course but before the second course, hence i can’t compare my erections before and after steroids but i do remember i certainly wasnt as hard after the second course and did struggle to get it up a few times with my girlfriend at the time. Whilst on the second course my nipples became quite sensitive and i was drinking pretty heavily every weekend. There was no tapering from the second course, i literally just used them up until i ran out.
Since then my desire to have sex has been pretty low and only seems to be getting lower. It’s affected (stopped) quite a few attempts to have sex due to not feeling aroused. I’m now 30 years old to save a bit of maths. When i look at women it’s almost like admiring a nice car - really nice but no sexual desire, probably from the fact i struggle to get an erection. I can get hard using masterbation / porn but can’t keep it up without constant stimulation and its never been anywhere near as hard as before i took steroids. I’ve never taken any steroids since but have been training at the gym for the last 10 years or so (on and off due to injurys) and have built a natural physique I’m happy with. I very rarely get wood in the morning, maybe once every few months, but strangely seem to feel horney the morning after a night out on the beer (though its very rare i drink these days).
I had some blood work done by my GP back in 2010 (i’d have been 23 at the time):
Serum testosterone - 20.7 nmol/L
Serum Oestradol - 135 pmol/L
Serum LH - 2.5 iu/L
Serum FSH - 1.9 iu/L
ALT/SGPT serum - 32 iu/L
Doesn’t appear they checked prolactin which i’ve read could be an issue (and a possible cause for the slight gyno i got from the sensitive nipples). I’ve ordered a private blood test kit to check blood hormones including prolactin but it’s not arrived yet. I’ll post the results once i have them.
Are there any knowledgable members out there that might be able to help out or offer advice? My GP is not aware of any of this. I’m a little frightened something may go on my NHS record if i tell them I’ve used steroids.
I would be very surprised if anyone here has some advice you could actually use. I’m not trying to be disparaging, but there’s been a bunch of threads on here over the years talking about problems like this. It seems particularly common when people have used Deca (I had libido problems for 6 months after using NPP - which is like short estered Deca in case you didn’t know) and it can last for a really long time.
The fact is we have absolutely no idea how to fix these long term Deca dick problems. Some people suggest fucking around with your dopamine (shit like L-Dopa or selegiline) but that is not necessarily something you would want to be doing as it can open you up to a world of shit in other ways.
Most guys seem to end up going back on cycle to try and fix it. Probably not a smart move either.
Whatever you end up trying, just be smart and don’t throw a load of drugs at it to see what happens.
I don’t have any history of steroid use as such but from what I know myself from the NHS is everything is down to not being the one to blame if anything goes wrong.
I too went for a hormone panel test at the age of 26 and my Serum testosterone came back at a wonderful 10.1nmol which is half the amount of Testosterone you quoted and I didn’t get referred, didn’t get any kind of treatment or explanation for it. I was to complain a few weeks later telling them nothing is any better and want them to carry out more tests, my erections wasn’t too good, I had no concentrations, I have little to no muscle mass but I am reasonably strong in cases of having adrenaline and excitement. My second set of tests came back with a testosterone serum level of 8.4nmol and I was referred to an endocrinologist at my cities treatment centre which took months to wait for.
Once I had finally seen my endo they carried out their own hormone panel tests, cortisol test, urine tests, full blood count and other androgen tests and my testosterone came back at 14.2nmol/L, my overnight dexamethasone test came back fine also as did everything else. My lh and fsh levels were 2.4 and 4.7 which I heard is very low for my age and could mean I have some sort of prolactin adaenoma so in which case you are correct in checking prolactin.
I still to this day feel no better and my sex drive is still low, my erections are still the same, my mood is all over the place, I snap really quickly, I forget things, I set my days out and do the same thing day in day out because I cant adapt to anything new because I don’t remember too much.
hope you get this sorted I may replace my testosterone myself for 12 weeks and see if It makes any difference without making myself infertile they simply don’t want to be blamed for anyone that is made infertile over these decitions no nhs member wants to be that person we can rely on incase it falls back on them.
First order of business is to tell your doctor what you did and when you did it. Without an accurate medical history it’s very difficult to understand what treatment is needed.
After you get the results of your private blood panel post them here with the requisite ranges so that the members can get an idea of what the numbers mean. Without a range as reference it’s hard to know what any of your numbers actually mean.
