I really think that the main reason why these kids were rioting is the same reason why kids vandalize on a small scale, for fun. The reason it started was just a convenient excuse. imo

The thing is Iām not sure if harsh punishment is going to help. There have been studies that say that harsher sentences do not deter and Iām not sure it helps the younger criminals to turn their lives around either. Most were/are young people who need more of a kick in the ass to get them on the right track than a harsh sentence.
