My biggest problem is Iām bad at the triple extension and the bar is almost neck height, shouldering just seems to work better. I actually missed 240 twice going straight up then got 240 and 280 first try shouldering.
Happy with the weight though because I remember how much of a grind 240 was a year ago and that was after training it for a while
Comp weights announced! Looks like Iāll be able to do most of it, depends on heat and how the day goes. With the progress Iām seeing on circus dbell and stones, I think Iāll be ready on Aug 3rd.
Left arm getting better but the AMRAP shows the difference in arms. I think Iāll get at least a few reps on comp day, the comp handle is 3" though which I think is a bit wider than what Iām training with
Think I can get stone for 1-3 reps. PR is a very ugly 280 but that was my first day of stones in almost exactly 1 year and I got it on my first attempt with no tacky or even chalk.
Farmers walk felt strong AF at 5lbs under my pr, didnāt even feel like they were slipping. I think itās because I learned where to position my hand so when I overgrip it, it gets stuck on skin folds rather than just calluses. Frame carry should go okay (AKA I wonāt do great but probably wonāt take last)
So turns out the farmer handles are 45lbs, not 25lbs⦠Makes my PR look a lot bigger woooo.
Farmer walk, stones, and circus dbell are making crazy progress after just a month and I have a little more than a month to keep training until comp day. I feel pretty decent about where Iām at (AKA probably wonāt zero half the events, this show is known for being heavy most years)but really feel that in another month I might actually be pretty good at these and place decent.
3/5 attempts with 280lb stone. Hopefully means 1-2 with the 300 on comp day. Assuming a couple peeps will 0 it so looking to get some points there.
Circus dbell AMRAP going well, main reason to stop is it starts slipping on my sweat during the dip.
Conservative with squats today, back was a little beat up from stones. I wanted to get a classmate to dig an elbow into my mid back but hard to find time with midterms and the holiday.
Weāll keep plugging along. The plan for comp is last place in car deadlift and keg toss. Some points in frame carry and stone, semi decent placing with circus dbell. Letās not take last overall!

Squats felt really strong this week. Had some weird trap/neck pain wake me up and linger for a couple days but itās gone now.
Also had some sciatic pain during deadlifts, only noticed it when I would brace with a belt on. I think taking stones/dl easy is why circus dbell and farmers moved the best they ever have.
Still playing with stone technique, current cross grip for shouldering is putting a lot of stress on the wrists. I think starting with the standard 10 and 2 position then switching to shoulder near the top may be the way to go, will try that today.

Got my ass kicked this week. Saturday might have effected Tuesdayās workout and I played with bodyweight BFR stuff at school today. Also weighed in at 172lbs. A little concerned but I donāt think I need to be, may start eating cereal again next week to regain some weight
