This stuff works for libido and erection quality, but our sexual health formula works 13 times better.
In 2025, researchers gave 120 men a big bottle of capsules to take home. Half received a placebo. The other half received a blend of two plant extracts. They were told to take one capsule daily for 12 weeks.
These men were part of a study on LN18178, which is the ingredient code for a combo of pomegranate extract and cacao extract. All the men were age 40 or older, and all had low sexual desire and mild-to-moderate erectile dysfunction. Basically, they had zero fun in the bedroom.
Here's what happened
Compared with placebo, the LN18178 group showed significant improvements in:
- Erectile function (getting and keeping an erection)
- Erection hardness
- Libido
If sexual health is important to you, you might be tempted to get your hands on some of that LN18178 stuff. But hold on a second...
LN18178 is weak-sauce!
The results of this study were impressive, but let's put on our ingredient-geek hats and dig deeper. The blend used in the study actually delivered very small amounts of the key actives.
The daily dose was 400 mg LN18178, standardized to only 3.5% punicalagins (from the pomegranate) and 0.5% theobromine (from the cocoa), which works out to a minimum of about 14 mg punicalagins and roughly 2 mg theobromine. Those are modest exposures.
In the real world, you get that amount of theobromine from a crumb of dark chocolate. The same is true for the pomegranate-derived punicalagins. That's a baby dose.
Still, the combo worked, suggesting the effects likely came from broader polyphenol interactions. The researchers likely included some cacao dust for vascular synergy with pomegranate, not theobromine pharmacology. The real power came from the punicalagins, even with a small dosage.
P-Well is the powerhouse version
Our sexual health formula, P-Well ➔ Buy at Biotest, contains 180 mg of punicalagins per serving, 13 times the minimum punicalagin exposure in that study.
Along with punicalagins, P-Well contains two other sexual health ingredients: lycopene and cranberry fruit extract, both at maxed-out dosages.
Now, P-Well does not contain theobromine, but like we talked about above, cocoa wasn't the prime mover in the study. Still, if you'd like to add it, you'd only need a nibble of dark chocolate per day.
