I don’t know what this means? Money was allocated and parts of the wall were built.
I would need to read a direct quote.
I don’t know what that means.

Ahh I remember Trump said we’re going to build a big beautiful wall…with nouns and adjectives!!! Mexico will pay for it by saying the word pay?
If I recall correctly parts of the wall also fell down due to severe weather.
You have a friend that comes to your house. You dont want him to come, so you say "i will build a fence and put electricity on it. Or you say oh please come over, you are welcome. While you call his 4 year old sister to tackle the root of the problem?
My point is saying that you will build a wall is way more successful strategy, even if you dont build one.
Because people can’t see there is no wall?
Oh, man. I cant do this anymore.
Lets get back to another more important topic than Liz Chaney.
Lets talk about how CNN are not reporting on the leaked emails from Fauchi, while making a fake news on Trump claiming he will be reinstalled in August.
Yep we should probably keep talk of Liz Cheney in the Liz Cheney thread.
Did you ever consider not clicking a Liz Cheney thread if you didn’t want to talk about her?
By leaked emails do you mean the Foi ones?
Well said
Not the best example, but it nicely captures a misconception/conflation that remains very pervasive, at present. To be precise, I’m referring to the conflation of ‘systemic racism’ (hint: this is a MACRO thing) with ‘racist behavior/action’ (which, by contrast, is an INTERPERSONAL thing). Some weeks back, I recall hearing Bill O’Reilly (on Glenn Beck’s radio show) doing exactly this: claiming that President Biden, thru his acknowledgement that ‘systemic racism in the US is a thing’ was somehow directly calling O’Reilly himself a racist (plus all of O’Reilly’s friends and family as well, he was quick to add). Now of course O’Reilly knows better; would that I could say the same for Beck’s faithful audience.
But nevermind me, here’s how conservative commentator David Brooks phrased it during a recent Friday’s PBS Newshour:
For a MUCH MORE blatant example of virtue signaling + pandering, consider how our (self-professed) Party of Law and Order claims to “Back the Blue…” oh wait, they don’t. But nevermind me, here’s some firsthand quotes:
[It’s been] “difficult seeing elected officials and other individuals kind of whitewash the events of that day or downplay what happened." - Capitol Police officer Michael Fanone
“They went through their motions, but you can tell that underneath they were being nice to us,” Sicknick said of her meetings Thursday. “I don’t understand it. They are elected for us, the people, and they don’t care about that,” she added. “They care about money, I guess, their pocketbooks. So they’ll be in front of the cameras when they feel like it. They just don’t care, and it’s not right.” - Gladys Sicknick
“And I was a person who supported Donald Trump,” Garza said. “Brian was a supporter of his. I mean, even on Brian’s Twitter page, he had Donald Trump’s personal plane in the background, as his background picture.” Asked what she would say to the former president, Garza said she would ask why he never reached out." And I would ask him why he failed all law enforcement that day. You know, he has an opportunity to turn this around. You know, if he’s really going to back the blue, then back it up with your actions," Garza said.
“I’m disgusted that the Republican senators, that decided to vote no. It’s a spit in the face to Brian. It’s a spit in the face to all the officers that were there that day,” Garza said. “I think it’s all talk and no action,” Sandra Garza told CNN’s Jake Tapper. “Clearly they’re not backing the blue.” - Sandra Garza
No doubt. And add in our status quo’s allowance for “dark money” contributions (wherein eccentric billionaires can also impose their visions), and perhaps this representative democracy thing is more of an illusion than most would like to admit…
Then the Nigerians showed up.
This sort of thinking would make sense if there were no poor whites and no rich blacks. A truly racist system would provide no pathway to wealth for black people.
People point to stats and numbers as evidence of systemic racism yet, when it comes to pointing out what specifically is an example of this system, they fall short. Redlining, for example, doesn’t exist anymore.
They always mention redlining. ALWAYS. But I’ve yet to have someone give a current example.
And they never mention the systemic racism against Asians that Ivy League schools engage in.
Congresswoman’s Cheney’s opening remarks to today’s first session of the January 6th Select Committee:
And maybe I’m the only one, but I do wish Mufasa had titled this thread ‘Liz Cheney Cancelled’
Because our far right’s lack of self-awareness (re: cancel culture) remains laughably pervasive, sigh
She speaks the truth. I hope it wins and doesn’t turn into a shit show in either direction
