Live 8

Live 8 gives me the shits. It’s all about a group of hippies who don’t have a clue trying to pressure governments into a certain course of action. Debt forgiveness is not going to do a damn thing for Africa. The governments in Africa bascially launder all the money that isn’t pissed up against a wall. The level of corruption is huge. I would sooner see something done with performance targets, ie you accomplish this, and we will provide you with this.

Last time we gave Africa hundred of millions of dollars, plus billions in other aid and what happenned? Nothing changed.

I agree that they need help, but giving them a blank cheque is not the answer to helping people.

My question is how many people who are buying into this stuff actually vote? [/quote]

I wouldn’t doubt that a LARGE majority of these "fcktards" (stole that from some other dude on another thread and just can’t find enough uses for it!) do indeed vote. Look at voter turn out in college towns and metro / urban hippy infested areas. It’s large. What else is there to do but sit around smoking weed, sipping lattes, puffing on Marlboro Mediums, waxing philosophical nonsense, and blaming the West and especially America for all of the world’s problems? It’s this exact group that almost gave us Al Gore. Un-fcking-believable. I am a middle of the road guy. I think Bush is generally an idiot surrounded by a solid cabinet. But Gore, that would have been an idiot surrounded by more idiots. OK, I am going off on a tangent. Yes, lots of these idiots vote.

Re: the whole Live 8 thing. Here’s my take: If Bono is involved, it’s total bullshit. I was sitting on a train in Switzerland with my folks and started discussing the whole catastrophe that is Africa. I basically said what that pissed off guy above said, except it was with my folks, so I tried not drop as many F-bombs. And I went off on a rant about how fcking ridiculously self-righteous Bono is. I had watched him the night before just blast “us” on CNN as a clueless pawn (Darian Kagan) just sat there. I could have thought of at least 10 real questions to ask that moron, but she just sat there nodding and taking it AS IF IT WERE THE UNADULTERATED TRUTH. AAGGGHHHH. FCKING PROPAGANDA!!!

Some college kids sitting next to us looked at me like I was the devil. Those f*ckers vote too.

Bastard

On a lighter note, and I didn’t see much of the performances, but Velvet Revolver kicked fucking ass!

Didn’t see Velvet Revolver, but I did catch Pink Floyd and they were awesome. Great to see Roger Waters back if just for one day.

liberals want the government to tax me (and you) more so that they can fund their pet projecxts, but they do everything they can to avoid paying taxes. Paul McCartney could have signle handedly “saved” Africa if he didn’t do everything possible to avoid paying taxes. what a bunch of hypocrites.

see below.

“Preplanning can take care of money worries, big and small, at a time of grief. Beatle-wife Linda McCartney assembled such a detailed, finely tuned prepaid trust that after her death her husband, Paul, skirted the 40 percent inheritance tax on her $230 million fortune.”

Military Intervention ???

How about this peach from Live 8? Apparently the celebs got to eat like kings and received goodie bags of around 7,000 GBP in value… at a concert… to benefit hunger in Africa.

And the insanity rolls on…

yes the gift baskets for the entertainers were valued at $12K. Give me a break. makes me want to reconsider actually supporting the entertainment industry at all.
