I have put a lot of effort into historical research, and the creation of military simulations. Currently, I have a very large scale battle going in in my living room. PanzerBlitz battle 5-13-22 - Album on Imgur This is a recreation of the Battle of Prokhorovka 12 July, 1943. Most of these pieces are handmade using GIMP, printed on photo paper, then sprayed with Krylon conservation varnish.
Much of the research came from a 75+ book library I accumulated, and from over 6,000,000 digitized photocopies of captured documents from the US National Archives, the German Bundesarchiv, and the Archives of the Russian Federation.
These are some close ups of a few reinforcement pieces I recently made: 95th Guards Rifle Division + 10th Tank Corps and 9th Guards Airborne Division - Album on Imgur This originated from a game called Panzerblitz that came out in 1970, and is the best selling game of its genre. No sane person would play it this way, however. The original game came with ~350 pieces, and each scenario had about 1-2 dozen on each side.
I also love to cook gourmet meals, rock climb, and I DJ a radio show.
Also music, though I kinda gave up on actually playing or producing it. These days I record stuff and turn it into virtual musical instruments. Today Iām working on a vocal singing in the reconstructed Proto-Indo-European language.
Gardening, too, itās berry season right now and later Iāll have cherries, apples and grapes.
And zymurgy. Used to make beer about 20 years ago, now Iāll do some cider or wine because see above. I tried distilling once a couple of years back, but ended up making one liter of about 70% spirits and breaking an old glass heat exchanger my dad used to make moonshine in the 80s, so that was that. But I realized that making vinegar is easy, so Iāve been doing that for the past few years. I make all the vinegar I need and give some more away to friends.
Hereās a pic⦠the mother from a jar of pomegranate vinegar.
Iāll spare everyone the exciting photos of me standing at my computer⦠as my hobbies are writing and inventing. I write a biweekly fitness column for a local newspaper (for you youngins, thatās a blog on paper), and I also have a number of movie scripts in progress as well as some plays. I also dabble in inventions - primarily fitness-oriented products. Thanks in part to you guys, Iām in the best shape of my life⦠at 60.

Iām a storyboard artist for film, TV and commercial. Thats pretty much my āhobbyā, I just get paid for it. Other hobbies? Painting (gouache, oils), reading and photography. Thats my big, top, most time spent, hobbies outside of training/lifting.
Hereās some of the gouache, and I think I may have some oils in these. I was preparing to sell a few of these, so I did a āgroup shotā.
And no intention to stopping with this painting hobby. Its become therapeutic and maybe, another $? I have a gallery show next month! July. Part of a group show and possibly, will become another feature artist in this gallery. Stay tuned! I started this journey as a physically active human long ago when I was a kid and that grew and Iāve maintained it through all these years. Iām doing the same with all these other hobbies. Theyāre ALL a part of me. Thank you for allowing me to share here.
Note: Iām still a ānew userā so I canāt post more than one pic. If you want to see samples of ANY of my work, go to my IG: frankensmithberry
A group - its become a series, āUniversal Monstersā, of oils. These are 5x5, panels. Iām working on two more to add: Bela Lugosi/Dracula and Boris Karloff/The Mummy.
Your art made my jaw drop. Those food paintings look so realistic! When you start selling, I want to know. Very cool what you do for a living and what you do for fun.
