Hereās one of my latest fabrications. Its a friction brake/bollard for lowering branches by rope.
Iām trying to tig the root pass, then Iāll probably finish it out with flux core.

I used to like watching movies. Iāve not watched a movie for 7 months already, I think.
Now my hobbies, if you can call them that, are āarchitecting stuffā in the home for storage stuff and vertical scaling systems for my cats. When Iām not doing that, Iām building my own protocol components, all of which follow the same concepts and principles, for the tech end at work.
3 years ago, when COVID started, I had to get a freelancer who has a PHD in some kind of IT stuff on retainer to MANAGE freelancers for stuff other than web building since most clients were gradually wanting more and more of this and I couldnāt afford to hire a local of his caliber for fulltime employment locally and I was the only one with a liiiitle IT knowledge but his shit was waaaaay out of my league. Like on a different planet kind of thing.
Since the dude only managed people for work and when he did technical stuff, it was mostly auditing and designing stress testing systems, he built tech stuff DURING HIS FREE TIME. I never expected this shit would happen to me lol. It didnāt register in my head how this was possible. The only other thing he does is marathon running.
Now I do. Fuck.

The guy I work with is very creative, but has problems with execution.
Iām pretty handy but utterly lacking in creativity. Between the two of us stuff usually goes pretty good.
I had to make a little drilling jig for round things, a design I stole from a guy on youtube.

They welded a bunch of braces with the 1 inch tubing yesterday. We picked it up and turned it over so he could weld the other side. Pretty heavy but felt sturdy. They took it outside today and started painting it.
None of us liked the design but thatās what the guy wanted.

We did some custom color frames for a church in the midwest once that were the ugliest things Iāve ever seen. It probably made sense in the bigger picture though.
