My uncle lives there. Sounds like it’s getting rough (-er than it already was).
From what I remember they won’t offer a big life insurance policy to someone that’s considered unlikely to make that much in a lifetime. Which makes selling insurance more profitable and murder/suicide less profitable
Not sure if you’ve ever read Poor Richard’s Almanac, I recommend it - especially for an aspiring behavioral scientist such as yourself. Tons of gems in there like this proverb
