Leg Day is for you Ambulating Fools

Somewhere in the neighborhood of 55#.

I"m a little north of Fort Worth. Most of my family lives down around Austin.

Thank you again! 55 would be manageable. You definitely have me thinking about the hole saw now. My buddy’s plazma cutter isn’t working and he’s too cheap to fix it for me…lol

I am about 75 miles from Austin.

I appreciate your help.

I was bored and didn’t have much to do for an hour, so here are some plans for it.

Ideally you would have access to a drill press with a hole saw, dry cut saw, grinder, and a welder. But as long as you have a welder, and an angle grinder or chop saw you can make it work.

You might try getting your steel from Metals depot. They have some bad reviews, but I’ve never had a problem with them. They cost a lot for what you are getting but it beats trying to jerry rig something together from what ever the hardware store has laying around.

Or if you have a trailer that can hold 20’ sticks, getting it from a steel supplier will cost you about 1/3rd as much as getting it online.

I don’t have trailer and my pickup isn’t running right now. There is only one place in town that has metal but luckily they are a fairly big distributor of hardware to local mom and pop stores across Texas and Oklahoma, so they have quite a bit of inventory IF you can find an asshole to help you locate it. I had to go straight to guy who orders the pipe for them to find the structral pipe for my axle, but he KNEW that they had it.

They have big bin with pieces that have been damaged. The last time I was out at warehouse they had some square tubing in the bin and I may be able to get a discount. Honestly they hate to see me coming because I am a pain in the ass, and sometimes the will give me a good discount just to get rid of me. We are talking small town here.

I am going to see another friend Thursday and see what he has laying around. Since we are dealing with relatively small pieces he may have some. He is a quirky engineer and is always building stuff for his outdoor kitchen. I guess he is expecting an elephant stampede by the way he builds things. Just nuts! I got all the rectangular tubing from him for my farmer carry handles and just have to get them put together. His wife is more than happy to get rid of the ā€œexcessā€ from his projects.

I will have to get the pipe at the hardware store though, no getting around that. 25 foots. I can have them cut it into smaller ( more manageable) pieces. The hole saw on the other hand… that may be the hardest part to acquire.

Strong contender for the Funniest Opening Post in a Training Log award imo.

Small towns are great until you need something strange.

If there is a Lowe’s or Home depot somewhat close to you they carry hole saws there. A weld supply shop might have one, but I wouldn’t hold my breath on that.

The hole saws have to go in a drill press when cutting metal.
If you try and use them with a hand drill there is a very good chance your wrists are going to break the first time you get a little uneven.

If you can’t get a hole saw or don’t have a drill press. You can take small drill bit and drill a bunch of holes around the hole you want to cut, then play connect the dots with an angle grinder with a cut off wheel, and patch it up with the welder.

Exactly!

Drill presses I have. I may have to go out in the snake shed and use the BIG one…lol I have only found a chicken snake in there but, I am in rattlesnake territory and I am skeered of snakes, go figure.
Hopefully won’t have to connect the dots but it may come to that. I have a bosch jigsaw that does wonders with a metal blade. May just have to grind down the length.

If you know a contractor or metal worker, would it be possible to tack what you need onto whatever order they make for materials next?

I don’t know any contractors that deal with metal. Closest thing I have to that is my buddy, PimpDaddy. I am going to ask Richard first, Ya know, because he would let me have them cheap or most likely free, just to get rid of them.

I did stop by the hardware store yesterday and no luck on the hole saw. Might as well went in and ask for plutonium from the look I got. That’s okay, Amazon will have no problem with it.

It will just take a little time to get all the pieces together. I have 2 1/2 weeks left on my current program anyway, so no rush.

Still feeling run down from this weekend, or I’m starting to get sick. Not sure yet

Bench Press
225 x 6 (102kg)
255 x 6 (115 kg)
290 x 6 +2+2+2 (131.5kg) 30 secs, 45 sec, 45sec between clusters. Some pretty ugly reps in there.

Dumbbell Shoulder Press.

I was going to try Chris Colucci’s 75# dumbbell clean and press for twelve, since I can’t clean anything I figured I would just curl them. HAHAHAHA, turns out I’m a moron. I massively underestimated the difficulty of hammer curling 75# dumbbells. I think the pressing would have been no problem but my biceps gave out after 5 reps.

After a nice mental berating, I went with what I was supposed to do.

R - 90 X 9 (40kg) All time Rep PR, 90 X 7, 60 X 16+1. (27kg) I was wore out and wanted to do something lighter then had to see how many reps I could manage.
I actually weighed my dumbbell for giggles and turns out its actually 95# (43kg) so that’s pretty cool. Still going to count it as 90 in the journal though.

L - 90 X 5+1, 90X3 Left arm gave out on number 4, 60 X 12+4

Didn’t want to set up the pullovers so I tried some Incline pressing. Did all of 225 X 1 and felt light headed so called it a day.

290 X 6 + Clusters (131.5kg)
Another of my homemade racks with my collection of homemade bars in the corner there. (Welding/fabrication school was my best decision ever.)

2" Stubby Axle, 3" Axle and a zigzag bar which ended up being absolutely worthless. Also my very first 1" barbell.

Front Hold
50 X 21 sec. Heard/Felt a big pop in my right shoulder. It hurt right then about a 5 out of 10. I waited a little and the pain went away I tried overhead extensions with a light dumbbell and nothing hurt.

Overhead Extensions
60 X 10 (27kg) No pain
100 X 23 (45kg)
100 X 15
100 X 10

I went and threw a ball for about an hour and nothing hurt. Woke up this morning and shoulder is incredibly tender. None of the rotator cuff checks Youtube had hurt, but all the AC joint checks hurt. I figure it is a minor AC joint sprain since I could throw a ball for over an hour without it hurting at all.

I’m going to continue training what I can with my left arm. Unfortunately I can’t just stop using my shoulder so going to try and take it easy when I can with the right arm.

Shoulder hurt a lot. And my family kept making sure I wasn’t doing anything ā€œstupidā€

Feb 4
I couldn’t live with myself if I took another day off, and I enjoy my steady state. ā€œIts just cardioā€ managed to get most of the naysayers to leave me alone. And the rest weren’t nearby…

So haha.

Rower 20 minutes
Averaged 2:51 per 500 meters. 3489 Meters total. Which is better than the last time.

1 Mile stroll.

Bench was set up with 225 so I jumped on it and did a couple reps to see how things feel.

Shoulder felt better afterwards.

I have run the csulli and T3hPwnisher method of rehab by just abusing the injured part until it gets it shit together before. (Teach it to give out on me.) I’m going to keep that up until something breaks for good or my sense of self preservation shows up again.

Its more enjoyable than siting around with free time anyways.

As long as I can keep all those people who care about my well being off my back.
