Leading up to bloodwork…

I’ve been on trt for about 7 months and about a month ago I went in to check levels and beforehand I asked the doctor about timing of last shot before doing the bloodwork. I split my weekly dose into 2 injections (Monday mornings, Thursday nights). He told me I could do my usual 1/2 dose and Monday and then do the bloodwork on Thursday morning before my second shot. I was surprised by this… I figured the Dr would tell me to skip my Monday shot as to have a full week before next shot to get my low point. Is this common practice for those who split their doses? To go ahead with normal 1/2 dose and then test 3.5 days later or so? My levels came back higher than expected and I wonder if this was why. He consequently lowered my dose by 50MG and a month later I don’t really feel great. Sex drive definitely dipped a bit and erections are not as strong. I really want to go back up but he said I should recheck in 2 months which would be in another month. Part of me really wants to go back to my previous dose and just skip a dose or 2 before my next lab. Or should I trust the process?

What the doc told you for bloodwork in relation to your shots is correct. If you skipped a shot you would not be getting accurate results.

As far as the other part of your post that is up to you how you manage it with your Dr.
If your gonna skip a shot I would test this by pulling skipping and then pulling labs for your self and see where you are. If you come in too low he’s prob gonna know something up and will prob want to keep running bloods.

Other option is you can tell him you feel like crap and would like to go back to the other dose.
TRT is about symptom relief, not chasing numbers. Is anything else on your bloods off?
Has bloods always been consistent until now?

Doc sounds knowledgeable as he’s giving your proper directives. If you’re going to sandbag your results why even bother doing it medically supervised. It’s always best to test the morning of your next shot to hit the trough consistently. If you don’t you can’t assess your levels lab by lab.

If your new low we dose isn’t working for you, talk to the doc about it and be honest. Can you remove your personal info and post your labs?
