Labwork Results - GP vs Endocrinologist

I am a 6’0" tall 45 y/o male who is overweight at 300lbs and I have been doing TRT for about a year now with my GP taking 200 MG every two weeks and tried a month or two doing 100 mg per week and didn’t notice much difference for me. I recently went to see an Endocrinologist who didn’t seem very knowledgable about TRT and looked about 25 years old. When I asked him about TRT and the possibility of prescribing me HCG or other serms he wasn’t very receptive to the idea.

My most recent labs just came back and are as follows:

Bloodwork done 8/27/18

TSH 1.49 (0.4 to 4.0 mU/L) In Range
Hematocrit 55.2 (38.8 to 50% ) A little High
Total testosterone 788 (250-1100) In Range
Free testosterone 189 (35-155) A little High

Here is my Endo’s remarks:

I received your lab results which show your testosterone is too high and also your red cells are too high. This is dangerous for risk of stroke. I recommend stopping your testosterone injections for now and rechecking the labs in 1-2 months. When it’s safe to restart testosterone, you will need a lower dose.

My GP didn’t seem to concerned at the results.

I feel he is not a fan of TRT and I may need to look for a new Endo? Then again I may be a bit uneducated, thoughts? I have lost a little bit of weight but also have put on a little bit of muscle as well.

Nope, nope, nope. Just need to give blood. Either whole blood or a double red cell donation. You should be pinning 50mg 2x/week. You are probably still crashing at the end of the week. You need to avoid the peaks and valleys of weekly injections. Test half life is roughly seven days so you are tapping out by the time you get your next shot.

At this weight, i have to assume your bodyfat is fairly high. Estrogen is a serious concern for high bodyfat guys. You need tamoxifen to control the impacts of estrogen

Thank you! I was thinking the same about giving blood as my T is in a good range and i feel very good, a lot better than before TRT. I will discuss with my Dr. and Endo aka (Doogie Howser)

Yes,

I definitely still have a lot of weight to loose.I will look into tamoxifen and also discuss options with my Dr and Endo !

You need to concentrate on diet and go give blood. You don’t need Drs permission for blood dono. My blood pressure was a little high and I was flushing from TrT shots. After I gave blood, BP came down and flushing has stopped.
You might consider moving this thread to T-Replacement section. To be honest, you get better advice out of this crew.

Be prepared to fudge your answers on the questionnaire. They don’t like steroid users.
