Yeah mark bell inventer of slingshot and mark bells powercast, apperently takes preworkout.
I use it regularly. have for a couple years. I’ll take a few weeks off it from time to time. I use it to relax, it’s a mood enhancer, and it’s a mild pain reliever. Doesn’t affect performance in the gym. It also deters me from alcohol. I basically picked it up because I wanted to enjoy something that wasn’t liver-toxic, and that I wouldn’t have to smoke. This fits the bill, and while tolerance does build, if you’re disciplined with dosing, it will stay effective at a relatively low dose. Get the caps though. the powders and the liquid concentrates are generally over priced and taste shitty.
What about addiction/dependence? The Mark Bell podcast makes it seem like there is no chance of it and he even states that it is not known however, everything I have ever read on it will say that you should take time off and vary doses because you will become addicted.
I think addiction is personality dependent. I do not have an addicting personality and for that reason I’m not overly concerned of getting addicted.
Did you not say “I don’t know how addicting this stuff is, but I can tell you it’s 3am and I feel like taking more” After one dose? I have been looking into for a while but, I do have a bit of an addictive personality.
I think if Joe Rogan wanted to “research” this he should have gotten someone else on the podcast because a lot of what Mark was saying was wrong, even the whole binding to opiate receptors.
I think it’s just the novelty that wanted me to take it again. I guess I need to use it longer term to really know.
One downside thus far is I need a higher end dose to feel it properly (2 teaspoons). $50 of this stuff doesn’t go far
I had planter fascia pain a few weeks ago hoping they would give me a shot of cortisone. Instead they gave me tramadol script, which i supposed to be non addictive.
Anyway i have two coworkers who had serious problems with the drug, i dont need those kind of problems. So i haven’t taken one yet i wait until my foot really hurts.
My step mom is a NP and said that Xanax used to be considered non addictive, and docs just gave it out now its very hard to get, as withdraw is horrible.
It is now considered very addictive drug.
She says the ones who get are for like people who have to fly, and then they only get like ten.
I like Rogans podcasts as well as Mark bells , i dont twitter or instagram, but wish they could get message to, have more Ped experts on show, the Victor Conte episode was awsome.
I bought and used Kratom from 2 different vendors since posting on here originally. My quick summary is that this stuff isn’t worth the cost and hassle. It elevated my mood and gave a subtle euphoric feeling, but is extremely expensive and tastes like hell. In addition, the positive feeling lasts about 2 hours on 4G.
Thanks ill leave it alone, Chris bell was taking like six at a time, for that much ill get a stronger preworkout that gives a light buzz.
I see it as one of those supplements you have lying around and take on occasion when you need a pick me up.
This stuff is fine a few days a month

What is your favourite type of Kratom?
I like the Bali. But the difference between strains is fairly minimal. Some of them make me want to go to sleep though. Not a fan of those.
Is this something you can get in the US?
Yes… for now. It’s potentially going to be banned soon, I don’t know the details but could happen.
It was initially slated to be banned Oct 1 but that was pushed.
I picked up a kilo on black friday.
Kratom is herbal leaf product. It is basically medicine to relief from pain, opiate withdrawal, etc. if you are kratom when your health condition is not normal like when you are having fever or you did not have a proper sleep for few days, then this will affect the way the medicine is going to work on your body.
I’ve tried it. Bought a few ounces from a local merchant. I can’t recall the dose (high side of user experiences on erowid)… thoughts? Erm… felt like any opiod would. Euphoria, pinned out pupils, itchy skin… felt great at first… and then the digestive distress set in. Nausea, vomiting, followed by a few days of constipation. Read: not worth messing with (for me). Probably worth noting I’m very sensitive to opiods… and have had digestive issues/weak stomach my whole life… so your experience may vary. I’m certainly not doing it again though.
I’m new to this (contributing – here at least; I’m very active in a few different blogs) but I’ve been lurking for a while so I thought I’d chime in. Here’s my experience with kratom. First off, as most should know by now the DEA never did ban kratom. After a large public backlash, including the science community, not to mention many users with a trove of anecdotal stories of positive experiences with kratom, the DEA decided to monitor the situation for 2 years (I believe) and possibly revisit it then (~ 2019).
I initially tried this on the advice of a friend. Before that however I did a large amount of research as I always do before trying something new. In general I’m not a drug user. I don’t smoke pot recreationally even though I have a herniated disc with associated chronic low back pain and have been told cannabis would be great for it. I seldom take analgesics for anything (except bad headaches) therefore I’m fairly virgin ground for opiates. I had oral surgery a few months ago and was given a prescription for Percocet. I never took any but some time later I had an acute back pain episode that woke me up. Usually I would dose with 4-6 ibuprofens (when I do take non opiate analgesics I don’t fool around). Since it was early enough to go back to bed I thought I’d try half a perc. I did. About 10-15 mins later a small wave of relief came. I thought “hmm, not bad”. I still had the pain but it was definitely blunted. About 10 mins later another wave of relief washed over me and my pain was gone completely replaced with a mild euphoric haze. I then thought “that’s why people get addicted to this”. I haven’t had one since.
After researching kratom fairly thoroughly I determined that the DEA (at the time the ban was imminent) was overreaching. Kratom was not directly involved in any deaths (ostensibly the reason for the ban). And even so, the number of deaths paled considerably when put up against even mild analgesics like aspirin and acetaminophen. So I decided to give it a go.
As noted in small doses kratom has a purported stimulant effect much like caffeine. Added to that effect is a heightened sense of well being, increased sociability and general feeling of wellness. I experienced every one of these positive effects on about ~ 4 grams of kratom (2 teaspoons). I threw mine in a small protein shake and chugged it quickly. It doesn’t taste great but I’ve had far worse. The effects take hold in about 15-20 mins for me. My workouts are always more pleasant and more importantly, intense when I take kratom. But I’m also cognizant of the fact that you would likely build a tolerance to this (like anything else) and thus I use it about 2x per week; sometimes 3. And always on a heavier workout day. So what – no downside? Well, for me the only negative with the first few doses was nausea. This came about 2 hrs after dosing. Thankfully there’s a quick, easy and inexpensive solution. I now take meclizine (Bonine, Dramamine) right before I dose. Since I’ve done that I haven’t had one problem with nausea. I took 2 mecs to start but now only take one. so for those prone to nausea mitigate that from the start by using meclizine. A female friend of mine tried this on my advice and had all of the positive effects. She also had the nausea until using the mec. Now it’s her special workout supp of choice.
Kratom is definitely not addictive in and of itself. I can go days and weeks without taking it. And when I do take it the dose is always on the lower end (2-4 grams). As mentioned, if you have an addictive personality, and you like it, presto, you’ll want it to an extent that might seem addictive. But in general I’ve had nothing but good experiences with it. So do your research and make an informed decision. I wanted to share my anecdotal evidence for what it’s worth.
If you can control the amount you drink, the amount you smoke… if you aren’t an addictive personality, then kratom is fine if you religiously follow correct dosing. I’ve been using it about 4 years regularly, for anxiety. Sometimes i use it 1-2 times per day, sometimes 1-2 times per week. Depending on the stress i am feeling. The crucial thing is controlling your intake. For some it can seem like it is necessary to take more and more but that is not the case, at least with my own body chemistry. It may take more and more to get a druggy euphoric effect, but euphoria isn’t why i take kratom. I take it to relax & stop worrying. If you treat it respectfully like a medicine, and not like a recreational drug, i know from personal experience that some people have good luck with it. I can’t speak for everyone because everyone’s physiology is different. But for me, I experience mild to no side effects. If i take it regularly for a week or so, i sometimes feel tired or listless. 3 times in 4 years, when i took larger or more doses per day to get through a hard moment, i’ve had overnight symptoms akin to quitting coffee (irritability, physical exhaustion, feeling bad generally). These disappear within a day.
So, take the correct dosage (for me it is just a bit more than level kitchen spoon full), check your own body’s reaction and go from there.
I’m not saying it’s great for everyone. I am saying it has worked for me.
