If and when he got caught, and the FBI finds out that you worked on the computer and didnt report it you WOULD be charged with accessory. Then you get to share a cell with him.

A joint hurts nobody. Encouraging sexual abuse and possibly murder to cover tracks is a much, much worse crime than some guy deciding to introduce marijuana to his own body.
A close friend of mine is an agent who spends the majority of his time on these cases. We have discussed the reasons for prosecuting these pervs and putting them away for the 5 yr minimum sentence under federal law.
He says the bottom line is that research shows 60-80 percent of these guys have been “hands on” with a minor at some point or another. Further, getting convictions in molestation cases is pretty difficult. In contrast, most child porn cases are straight forward and are a solid avenue for attacking the problem.

Hey. Whatever has been done is done. The guy is prob in jail right now anyways. My personal feelings on the matter of privacy may be a little extreme. I understand that the sick motherfucker was downloading little boy porn and that is very nasty.

The guy is not a sexual offender until proven guilty.
Possessing a collection of child pornography is a sexual offense, so there needs to be an investigation. Hopefully, the guilty party will be prosecuted.
Elano, you’re wrong. This is not opinion. This creep was committing a felony, and not anything “minor” like moving 20 +lbs of bud over state lines. He’s in possession of proof of evil, and needs to be seperated from the rest of the functioning world. People like this have a problem, and unfortunately for all involved it cannot be fixed. So, the solution is to remove them from society and put them in a situation where they can fully understand what it’s like to be the victim.

Had he not reported it by law, yes he would have been an accessory. That is not something that just happens to finds its way onto someones PC. That is something you go looking for. And by having it he is guilty regarless of your personal feelings.
I think that a lot of people who hold the right to privacy sacrosanct are missing the point here. I don’t give a crap who does what drug or who watches what porn, as long as the actors are consenting adults. There can be no such thing as child porn without the severe victimization of an innocent child.
I can do any drug or build any bomb or draw any picture without victimizing anybody. Child porn is NOT a victimless crime, and anybody who supports it (in the context of this argument, by downloading it) is validating it, and needs to be stopped.
And whoever said, “it’s like seeing a kid get raped and ignoring it” is just plain brilliant. If I ever saw somebody walk past someone else being victimized in such a way and do nothing, I’d first stop the assault and then I’d come back and pound some humanity through your thick skull. It seems like people have forgotten to be human, it’s as though we’re becoming zombies, going about our days and not even recognizing bad things like this when it happens. I’ve known some people who have gotten raped by filth like this. Even as grown men, they are still messed up. In fact, one of those guys had gotten HIV from the experience!
