Based on just stats he is MUCH better than Namath and Bradshaw. He could pass Unitas and Montana in total yards and some notable names he is already head of Jim Kelly, Jim Everett and Phil Simms.
Took Carolina to an NFC championship game and The Giants to a Super Bowl.
So should he? I say yes and if The Titans win the Super Bowl this year then I would say definitely.
Those stats are better than Namath and Bradshaw because it’s a different era. Nothing stands out in those stats. They’re decent stats, but pretty average for any qb that stays a consistent starter for a decade. Vinny Testaverde, Dave Krieg, and Steve McNair all have similar stats.
Remember, it’s the “Hall of Fame” not the “Hall of Pretty Good.”

I had to.
Don’t get me wrong, he’s had a good career – a damn good career if the Titans can win the title this year, but nothing stands out. It’s not like he’s carrying the Titans on his shoulders.
Besides that, there’s too many borderline quarterbacks out there that should be in before him.
What if the Giants win another title? What if they do it this year? Is Eli a HOFer? Kurt Warner and McNair should both probably get the nod before Collins.
Right, I was about to mention Kurt Warner as well. The guy has been on some great offensive teams (Greatest show on Turf and now the Cards) and I would CONSIDER him for the Hall I guess.

Have heard arguments for and against Warner. Superbowl champ, 2x mvp, hard to see a no there. Perhaps because he peaked so early. Collins slowly grinded away a decent career. HOF? hmmmmmmmmmm

Like? The only ppl that are going into the HoF as of now (thats playing) are Farve, Brady, Manning and Warner. Eli and Big Ben could go but that is a long ways a way.
Warner will get into the Hall but like you said McNair and Collins #s are close so if Mcnair should get in then why not Collins?
What about Drew Brees? He’s basically carried the Saints since he got there, and he was never given enough credit when he was with the bolts (thanks for getting rid of him and Marty A.J.).
Kerry Collins… not even in the Hall of Decent. Not even in the Hall of Consistant. Because he hasn’t been either in his career.
Wow, he had one good game passing this year. Out of how many… 8? After the Bears lined 8 or 9 in the box EVERY single play. So no, Kerry Collins should not be mentioned for MVP, Hall of ___, or even the Pro Bowl. He’s a fucking journeyman who got lucky enough to be stuck on a team that has what it takes to win deep in the year.
And to nopal = Why is everyone overlooking Brees for the MVP? The Saints suck, but who’s putting up better numbers on a better team? Portis… Peterson?
Passing rules are COMPLETELY different than they were even twenty years ago. QBs used to call their own games, that alone gives the old guys a huge leg up. Even since the Colts bitched post-2004 there has been a noticeable change in the pass coverage rules/enforcement.
Collins, 2nd Super Bowl or not, is not even close to being a HoF QB. Same with McNair. Warner, now there’s an interesting debate.

I don’t think Warner will get in. And, as far as McNair, he shouldn’t go in either, but he should get consideration before Collins.
I vote no for Collins. Good numbers, but not great. Even if the Titans win the SuperBowl this year, I don’t think he will get in. Heck, Trent Dilfer’s Ravens beat Collins’ Giants, and Dilfer is nowhere close to getting into the HOF, even though he won a SuperBowl, so I’m voting no for Collins.
Warner has throw for over 300 yards in 45% of his games the next closest is Foust with like 28% then Manning and Marino at 26%. If he wins MVP this year I say he is a lock. How many guys have won 3 MVPs? 1? 2? mignt not be first ballet but he will make it

Collins is a journeyman that has never carried an offense, won a title or an MVP, led the league in passing, or anything else noteworthy. He has been a serviceable starter and game manager. That’s not enough. He has no chance.
Warner is another story though. If he takes AZ to the promised land this year he’ll be a lock.
