Notes:
- Ever so slightly improving my running every day. Feels good.
- Wife was “suggesting” (read: mocking me) that I should work on my forearms a bit. Time to bust out the ol’ wrist roller a few times per week.
Ever snap up those pool noodles for an axle and some Poundstones? That will work some magic
Not yet. Stuff like that is still blocked in my province at the moment (don’t even get me started on it), and ordering them online is INSANELY expensive for some reason.
Still rinsing it my manly bastard of a man

- Glad this was a lower intensity week, because I’m feeling a little beat up. Couple of subjects got released from jail this week and they always make my day a huge pain in the ass, so I’ve been on-edge and extra vigilant all week. Started to wear me out a bit. Once again though, good session.

Notes:
- This is always the hardest day of my training week; not only is it the longest weight training session, but it’s also the longest run. Makes for a tiring day, but it builds good mental fortitude. Also means I need to down a boatload of food — tonight, meat tortellini with meatballs and bolognese sauce, plus a salad doused in olive oil and red wine vinegar. Probably wash it down with a huge glass of milk, followed by a lovely local rye whisky.
This accompanies every meal I ever eat. My friend has a sticker on his car that says “Milk drinkers are better lovers” and now I have something to back up why milk is present every time I eat, haha.
That’s absurd, but also kind of hilarious.
I feel like I should be shocked, but the COVID responses have desensitized me to bureaucratic stupidity
I understand the reason, but the execution has been terrible; they’re trying to make sure non-essential items aren’t being sold in big-box stores, because there was a huge uproar last time when non-essential businesses were closed, but stores that had essential and non-essential items could remain open and sell NE items. It was a giant clusterfuck that demonstrated the provincial government’s loyalty to businesses instead of the populace.
They’ve constantly blundered almost every step of the way throughout the pandemic, from extremely lax lockdowns at the start that made things worse, to extreme lockdowns that were so vague no one followed them, to lifting lockdowns during the holidays which led to soaring case numbers, to re-instituting more vague lockdowns and scrapping their tiered lockdown system, to ignoring medical professionals advice, to taking what medical professionals said and running the wrong direction with it… I could go on and on.
I can’t entirely blame the provincial government, though. The population here has been as much to blame, as can be seen by the fact that the majority of cases have been from close-contact community transmissions, largely from people from unrelated households or jobs, meaning people are ignoring procedure and doing whatever they want. That exact fact is what led to the largest amount of deaths in the province, which was personal support workers traveling and partying, then bringing COVID into long-term care homes and decimating the elderly. Really sucked.
It shouldn’t have been difficult to get this thing under control, but humanity is stupid.

- Not much to say. The weight moved, felt good, boom.
- Cancelled my ruck walk today. After my workout, I spent a couple hours at my buddy’s helping him cut and split wood, then joined my wife and kid at the lake for dinner. I was pretty wiped and just wanted to sit on the couch with my wife once we got home.

Notes:
- This was a session where I survived instead of thrived. The last two days caught up with me, and combined with abysmal sleep caused by a string of horrible nightmares meant I was wiped today. I got the bar loaded and immediately thought, “I don’t want to do this.” Grit my teeth, roared with defiance, and got it done though.
Did you yell “this is Sparta”?
I did not. There wasn’t enough energy for words, just a primal yell.
