God Is A Beast is definitely on the to do list

I’m interested to see what if any effect it’ll have on my upper back/shoulders.

So you guys are just going to take advantage of me when I’m weak and make me go dig out my copy of Forever again?

@kdjohn what does your plan look like? Because that sounds really interesting, and I’m definitely up for a play along at home style program.

Here’s hoping!

Still gotta tinker with it a bit, but I’ll make sure to post it in its entirety when I figure it out!

For what it’s worth, I’ve noticed O-lifts respond very well to training in that 60-80% range. I find this helps groove technique, manage fatigue and emphasise wicked-high bar speed better than the 85-100% range. While I haven’t actually done O-lifts with 531, I reckon setting your TMs to 70-75% will be helpful, especially given all the volume in God is a Beast.

Start time: 2100
Outside temp: 5C

Running

  • 5km, 25 min

Walking lunges

  • 25 reps/leg

Single-leg calf raises

  • 2x15 @ BW

Tibialis raises

  • 2x15 @ 10

Notes:

  • So this was unexpected. I told myself I wanted to get 5km in at least 30 minutes, preferably under. Managed to get into a comfortable pace and just kept going. Running with my dog helps, because I think I subconsciously want to keep a quick pace. He’s an Amstaff/German shepherd mix; super focused and loves to work hard.

I fucking love how you put a temperature check in your log @kdjohn my man. Added manliness

Only slightly manly, haha. I still refuse to run in the middle of winter.

  • 120x5
  • 135x5
  • SS W/ band dislocations, 3x10

Front squat

  • 180x5
  • 205x5

  • 1x25 band flies (rest-paused)
  • 45 sec chest stretch

EZ bar curls (3030 tempo)

  • 3 sets to failure @ 60

Notes:

  • I went into this thinking I was gonna have a crap workout because my morning was very stressful, but after warming up something switched and I was fired up. Snatches were flying and I was getting under the bar quickly, front squats were super strong on the topset, and cleans were poppin’. Assistance was, well, assistance.

Notes:

  • I was SO close to getting 9 on the topset of bench, but it just wasn’t meant to be today. Got it off my chest and it stalled, but I just kept pushing and eventually hit the midpoint, then after what felt like ages it ALMOST hit lockout, but then I realized it was slowly lowering. Oh well. I’m content with 8.

21/03/2021 PART 2

Start time: 1950
Outside temp: 7C

Ruck walk

  • 5km w/ 50lb pack, 55 min

Jefferson curls

  • 1x15 @ 25

Notes:

  • Yeah yeah, I’m gonna become one of those twice-a-day loggers. Deal with it. I’ve never done an actual ruck walk before, so this was a fun experience. Took a few minutes for my body to adjust to walking with 50 pounds on my back, but once I did I enjoyed it. I’m gonna need to get a backpack with a waist and chest strap though, because it was annoying to readjust the shoulder straps every 10 minutes.
  • I’m thinking on my days off I’ll stick with a two-a-day set up; strength training with be in the afternoon, then I’ll do a run, ruck and bike session in the evening on different days. It’ll be a good way to get the blood flowing and recover from the weights earlier.

Maybe one day. Right now whatever science experiment I’ve come up with is working, so I’m loathe to change anything at the moment. It’s definitely on my radar for the future, though.

Kudos to you for coming up with your own stuff that actually works man. It’s real easy to get too fucknuts and cockstrong and work yourself into the ground or neglect things you need but don’t like :metal:
