Do you have photos from those old shows?
library of most my shots kept online. should work in link above.
Any thoughts peoples?
Tomorrow I am 6 weeks out from Nov 19th UNBA show in Hermosa Beach. Today I was 184lbs, up 3lb from yesterday. It was also my refeed day yesterday so 300 grams carbs down the hatch according to coaches guidelines. I added in a pinch of pink salt to all meals and made sure to hit 1.5 gallons water as well. This seemed to help as I felt and feel fuller and more lively today then after my last refeed and that was at 550 carbs. I have also been on lower carbs on the other 5 days prior to this refeed so perhaps I was more responsive this time around also. 181lbs yesterday was my new low for this prep period as well. Come to think I was 178 on show day my last contest makes me wonder how low I will be this time around with 6 weeks to go yet!?
Pics and stats coming tomorrow morning as always. Will post up and note if coach makes any changes for me.
Thanks for the ongoing support and help guys. Feel like I got my own little group of people here who get this shit!
6 weeks out today! (original show 2, Nov 19 is now my only show planned) great week diet, hit macros within 5% range or better all week. training was a bit of a struggle but not terrible. work based classes really wearing on me last week and more so this week. calorie intake where it is now likely going to play a role in NEAT and general vigor I have day to day. Part of the game so now the objective is to manage that as best as possible.
no changes to diet or training from coaches feedback this morning.
still same as posted in earlier post above. weight today 185.6 (last week 188.6)

I would take the dearth of responses to your thread as an indication that the majority of people that would normally respond to such threads are of the opinion that what you are doing is inadvisable.
What do you see when you look at your pics?
I’m curious because, I think you see differently versus what everyone else sees.
I grit my teeth every time I open this thread. You need considerable time to accumulate mass on your body. The problem with that is, why have you not progressed further to this point?
You need to do some self reflecting.
@IronOne I see an athlete is what I see. Nothing more or less. I have seen better and worse. I have said before in this thread, I am not blind to the fact I do not have best case scenario or genes in my favor. Far from that. I also know that I can take the cards I have and play them as best I can and see what comes of it. Holding back forever worried about what may or may not happen despite being passionate about the goal is just pointless to me.
I know I need mass yes, lots of it! However if you read my above post as of late you will see that I spent 8 months deployed last year and gaining mass while living on a Naval vessel with limited gyms, average food etc…not gonna happen. Then spending the first 6 months of this year keeping within a weight class for powerlifting also kept my goals on strength and performance and making weight, not gaining size.
The whole idea of wanting to do a MPD contest again at all this fall only crept up on me in June out of the blue via my exposure to many peers and friends doing shows this summer. The big truly just bit me…thats that.
I of all people do more self reflecting then most I feel. Not just on physique but career, friendships, relationships, legacy, personal development etc…its a personal practice of mine I take seriously…I title it mindfulness more so then self reflection…semantics in the end.
Fair enough.
I guess I just don’t understand the concept of prepping for a show when you’re clearly not ready in the short-term (conditioning) or intermediate term (mass).
Why? For fun? That does not sound like fun to me. A challenge? Why not spend your time more wisely challenging yourself to gain mass to prepare for a show 2 years from now you can potentially be competitive in?
Either way good luck. You are clearly dedicated!
Are you sure what you’re consuming matches your plan? August 2nd when you started this thread you weighed 189, last week 188, and this week 185.
In the 11 weeks your weight has been pretty stagnant and 4lbs is enough to just be water retention.
Good luck
i started at 205lbs june 14th. so then to now has shown progress. i was 182 for about 3-4 days last week, 183 for another 3-4 and then came back up to the current 185 i am now and was at since saturday morning.
my coach wants me to drop 1-1.5lbs a week now till show day is the plan. he is all about how i look over what i weigh as he feels conditioning is where my best possible shot it as placing well since size is not on my side.
both peter and one other peer/friend of mine (although he too coaches many folks) Jason Theobald both have said that with my look as it sits now, I can and would likely come in good enough to place top 5ish if I did the Nov 19th show within the natural organization I have picked (UNBA) as a physique competitor.
Coming from these two guys with keen eyes and much experience in this exact sport at every level…I feel confident that they are being honest and straight with me. If either said…not sure, dont know, maybe, i doubt it, no way, not ready, etc etc…I would listen and swallow that hard pill and back off from doing a show.
I have not however gotten that reply. This is why for me anyway…the clear and across the board response I get here is to NOT COMPETE. Urks me a bit sure but to be fair I do not know anyone here on a personal level nor have their backgrounds or expertise levels known to me.
Not trying to rain on the parade at all. Just thought the weight loss in the time frame felt relevant, as something is preventing you from losing. You’ve got six weeks which, in my inexperienced opinion, is enough to lose a noticeable amount.
Agree, final weight is less important than final look, but it is a relevant tool to measure progress.
Anyhow good luck. Throw up a photo post comp, I’m really interested to see the height difference between you and others. All the physique guys I know are around 5’8" and I’m their comp photos people are close to that height.
5 weeks out now. 182lbs.
new macros and cardio from coach for the week:
100c, 250p, 45f
250c, 225p, 40f (6 day refeed)
4x30 LISS, and 2x30 HIIT(non lift rest days only) only 1 day a week i dont do cardio and thats leg day.
Step on the throttle
And on a positive once you have more mass, your back should look pretty good, great lines and potential
keeping on with coaches marching orders…
he bumped me up on cardio and dropped my carbs a hair on refeed days and normal days…killed me to see it as work classes getting to be a drag! had some hypo spells a few times last week matter of fact lol.
gotta press on though…4 weeks and change to go baby!
Best of luck. Those last few weeks are never easy. I think I had Brad almost hallucinating at times before his contest -lol

More like sociopathic and depersonalized. For real! ![]()
A low carb diet (60-100 g) for four weeks, followed by a ketogenic diet of four days, with the first three of those days having depletion workouts, can do that.
AND… it was all fucking worth it!
I recall my last prep period (2 shows 2 weeks apart) in fall 2014 being about the same in the last 4-5 weeks of true grinding.
Eating (then)~1700 kcals a day most days while working an 8 hours as a military physical fitness instructor on top of my own workouts was brutal as fuck! i told so many people time and time again I would never wish that experience on my worst enemy! Those feelings are back!! I guess I am “lucky” now to still be a smidge over 1800 kcals right? LOL!
I always found (and still do) the struggle worth it however. made me dig super deep and find what i had in me for discipline, determination and sacrifice for a goal I badly wanted/want.
The single factor looming on my mind 24/7 for a couple weeks now and peaking this week other then cravings for steak, burgers and burritos…is the notion that due to some truly good fortune and doors opening for me…I could be headed in 1 of 3 directions for career transitions to better, bigger, higher paying jobs. None of the 3 however are local and will require relocation within about 3 weeks tops. I may even have word/offers on what and when by weeks end I am told. Its hard as fuck to focus and stay the game plan knowing all of the prep now and going forward could be yanked out from under me with a phone call. Great for the career yes but devastating to the prep plans I poured so much into already!
4 weeks out now gang! so close! 3ish formal training weeks left then the big bad peak week. feel real good with peter in my corner to help dial me in at the end.
this week was really good. i find that being sure to take my daily multi vitamin packs is a must for keeping energy levels strong. Pete pulled out the HIIT as thats when I tended to go hypoglycemic most often from my classes at work or on my own. So all 6 cardio sessions from this weekend forward I do on my own outside work demands are 35 mins LISS (not to exceed 143bpm or 65% HRR). No changes to diet as I went from 183.3 to 180.4 this week so Pete and I feel we ride this tide as it is.
Macros this week, same as last week: (super small drop in fats via -5g all days)
100c, 250p, 40f
250c, 225p, 30f (6 day refeed)
Pics from this AM at 180.4lbs…crazy as I was 178.8 on show morning for my last 2 shows in Oct 14 and here I am 28 days out just a couple pounds over that!
I think, you definitely are looking better at this point, spread out your wings though in the pose, your a big guy and you need to show your frame. Let us know your diet/training update. Nevermind I just read the update lol
