Just Got Fired

How the hell are you going to get written up for getting kicked in the face?

You should’ve taken her to HR. You probably can still after the fact. You sound like you are reverting to a victim mentality.

You could’ve explained to HR that you got kicked in the fact, and secondly that this manager was so worried about their outer appearance, LOLL>

Cattles are humans too…

Damn… I never really contribute to anything…

Answer: Wal~Fart.

They have the facts, I bet if I was shot instead of kicked the results would have been the same (no swearing on the sales floor! and clean-up that blood!).

The unfortunate part of this statement is that someone who hasn’t worked for Wal Mart or known someone that has would think that was a joke or exaggeration.

A despicable company and to say they treat their employees like cattle would be issuing them undeserved credit.

In my country, you pretty much have to kill someone to get fired. I mean it’s ridiculous; no matter how incompetent you are, there is just no getting rid of you.

People can get fired just like that in the US? Just, “that’s it, I’ve had it. Pack your shit and get out.”

Do you get paid for a couple of weeks after, atleast?

…eh, not really. Employers have to have a reason to fire you, like ‘you didn’t clean up your work area for the nth time’ or whatever. But yeah, they fire you, you’re out.

I think there’s some severence pay if you’re in management or have worked there a long time, but for most jobs, you get however much work you did that week and that’s it.

Sometimes I wonder how the scandinavian countries are in the first world. You defy market capitalism. And it CAN’T just be your oil.[/quote]

It depends on the state, there are ‘right to work’ states where an employer must show cause to terminate employment, and ‘at-will’ employment states where they can fire your ass with or without cause.

Severance or redundancy payments are not statutory to my knowledge, some employers do it as good will, others do not.

Why? You like picking up the slack from people who sleep on the job?

Shit, I’ve had captains that I’ve known tend to doze off on watch. This does not a good work environment make.

That does suck, sorry bro.

U have kids?

I am not sure of your circumstances, but have you looked into COBRA coverage?

Still? Man, that sucks. Sorry to hear that.

What kind of work are you looking for? Got any qualifications?

I was fired from my first teaching job many years ago for being ‘too nice to the students’. Seems treating high school kids like human beings wasn’t a good thing at the school.

Time for you to look into jobs that have a future — nursing, National Guard, things like that. Are you young enough to join one of the services?
