Journey To Pythagorean Perfection

Really good lifts. Had to look up the Bamboo bar.

Chris add a third bench day each week if your schedule allows. Your body will adjust quickly and your numbers will go up. You will need to lower the rep range a bit but that’s it.

Great 535 squat above and a nice rep set with the 235 x 14 on the bench. How many reps could you do with 225 at the NFL combine, maybe show those young athletes a thing or two about strength.

saw the numbers you put up in Holiday Havoc…super impressive

Thanks OG! Where did you see the numbers if you don’t mind me asking?

Holiday Havoc Meet Synopsis:

Well I know I don’t check-in often but life is so damn busy I really don’t have the time to swing by these forums frequently. I’d rather spend my time in the gym.

Anyway, I did a meet in early December and fell short of my goals by 35pounds but still added 105 pounds to my total from May so I’m super happy.

My goal was 1600 and I totaled 1565. Had a little bad luck during the meet but it goes with the territory. Opened squat with 540, no problem. Second attempt went for 570 and red lighted on depth which is odd given I’ve never before been red lighted on depth. I guess there’s always a first for everything. Original plan was to go for 605 on my third attempt but in the interest of maintaining a decent total I decided on 585 knowing I could bury it to depth no problem.

Bench went well (3 for 3)
1st: 325
2nd: 345
3rd: 355

Deadlift also went well but I feel like I was robbed on my 3rd attempt. Keeping in mind, I was in the third flight and did my first squat at 3:30 and my last deadlift at 10:45 at night I’ll still take it. I was called for a ramp on 640 so missed the pull. Overall deadlift was 2 for 3 with 625 being my last good pull.

1st: 585
2nd: 625
3rd: 640 = miss

Here’s a video of my top lifts. I’m coming along nicely. The goal for 2016 is to remain healthy, get stronger and hopefully qualify for The Arnold next year.

And here’s the miss at 640 - you be the judge! :slightly_smiling:

Regards,
Chris

Chris- On the RPS site.

Ahhhh - I didn’t know you followed RPS! Thanks OG, it was a good meet…

When will I see you at one?

First, congratulations on the meet and adding a lot to your total. Nice job.

As for the third deadlift, I would have red lighted you for ramping. For reference, I’ve been a ref for about 4 years. I’d also advise against asking for armchair feedback on youtube. Regardless of the information you garner, you still didn’t get the lift. I’ve had lifts I was sure I was robbed on. Conversely, there’s some where I’m sure I got a gift. Go get it next time.

did an RPS push pull in Dec… doing a full meet in April but its up in NH…

How did you fare at the meet?

Thx ourboro_s!

It’s funny, you’re only the second who said that but I take your point in arm chair judging. One of my training partners is a USAPL judge and said it was a 70/30 call but he would have white lighted me. Of course he could be partial because we train together… :slightly_smiling:

I’ll be at the Arnold competing next year, will be pulling 700 in the next 18 months. Those are my goals.
