Joss Whedon´s Dollhouse

Adam Baldwin is sure as shit bad ass, he’s the reason I gave the show Chuck a chance.

And yes, killing Fred while it initially depressed the hell out of me, i loved what they did with Wes after her death.

Im sorry but just about any scene which start s with a guy with a british accent sitting in the dark drinking scotch will most likely end up awesome, Wes pulled this off like 4 episodes in a row.

2nd your thoughts on Cordy, by the time she slept with Conner I was ready to write her off, even if she wasn’t actually under her own control at that point.

Her spread in Playboy though, amazing…
Speaking of Playboy spreads, I always thought Harmony was really funny. She tried so hard, but she just couldn’t be not evil.

And also, I think this thread makes us losers.

Just sayin’.

No, Christine just commented a few posts up, officially making it not just two dudes talking about the show Angel.

Thanks Christine.

The fact that I could possibly go on for a couple more pages, that might tip the scales…

Thank the gods she’s passably attractive, as well.

Or our shit would be completely fucked.

WTF, we get Doyle for 7 episodes, but that skinny fucker hangs around for the better part of the last 2 seasons ?

Love Wesley though, esp when he becomes a bad ass, also love he just knocked up Willow, his real life wife.

Fun Fact, originally Doyle was going to be brought back somehow, but the actor sadly committed suicide before that time came, they talk about it on the DVD commentary, I guess David Boreanaz and he were very close.
Doyle was awesome!

I knew he committed suicide, but I didn’t know they were going to bring him back.

I agree with you guys about Cordy. I liked her on Buffy and the beginning of Angel, but sleeping with Connor was just wrong.

She was also in Veronica Mars. Another great, but short lived show.

Thing is, they turned her into a decent human being. Bitch Cordy was fantastic. She still had that in the beginning of Angel, then she decided she wanted some vamp dick, and got all sappy and shit.

That scene with Connor and Cordy always makes me feel dirty. Way to oedipal for my tastes.

Exactly. They could have made her empathetic without completely losing the bitchy edge she had. They just made her too sappy and then too crazy.

It happens all the time on TV. Writers get this idea that character development and personal growth involves losing all of your flaws. It’s about understanding why you have those flaws, not changing who you are.

That’s what I liked about Spike. They almost went to far in season seven of Buffy, but then they pulled him right back on Angel. He was still a dick, but that’s why you liked him.

And he was a Pistols fan, which makes him alright in my book.

Making Spike too nice would have just been wrong… even with a soul… even considering what a pansy he was in pre-vampyre flashbacks.

Now I’ve got the Buffy theme song in my head.

I liked the Spike with the chip in his head.

Yeah, you liked Spike, but as a character they didn’t have to make him “likeable” he didn’t have to be a good guy, that wasn’t what he was, and they let that be, with Cordy they changed her, and it wasn’t a change that comes with character development, I don’t know if they wanted us to think that Doyle’s gift did that to her or something, but it just didnt feel natural.

What did you guys think of how David Boreanaz played that part ? Im a huge fan of his, really one of my favorite actors, wish he did movies, but he is fantastic on Bones and Angel.

First time I heard up him was actually an interview he did with Men’s Fitness back in Bones first season, after that I went back and watched all of Angel, guy comes off very decent, he’s a bit of a gear head, owns a garage in LA, owns the black convertible from Angel.

I liked his backstory. Every ‘bad boy’ type has that one girl that rejected them back when they were too nice.

Not that I would know anything about that, of course.

I was just thinking about chipped Spike the other day, and how genius it was. He was still evil, but he had to grudgingly accept his old enemies. Living with Giles was classic odd couple comedy. ‘We’re out of weetabix.’

One thing that’s always stuck with me:

In a flashback where Spike finds out Angel has just fucked Drusilla, and he’s really upset about it, he says, ‘But she was Mine!’ And then Angel says, “Spike, as a vampire, you can have whatever you want. But NOTHING is yours.”

I always liked that. perspective, and whatnot.

Love him. Love him on Bones as well.

He does a great job as the dark, brooding hero. I also liked his evil side.

I’m always meaning to pick up the Bones DVDs. It seems Boreanaz leaned up a bit, as well.

I really like his work. He manages to be badass and really humanly decent at the same time. The contrast between flashback evil Angelus and modern soulful Angel is always interesting to watch.

I always thought he was a good actor, but when he reverted back to Angelus in season four, I knew he was great.

Exactly. He was still evil, he could still fight, but he could only fight demons (and Buffy when she came back all wrong).

And he was a perfect bad boy for Buffy to get involved with. Angel was too nice most of the time to be considered a real bad boy.

Yeah, he got a bit chunky during the end of the season, but you could tell he was already leaning up towards the end.

If you’re in the states Vic, they are constantly showing reruns of Bones on TNT, and many episodes of the series are stand alone, so you dont exactly have to watch it in order, although there are more defined arcs that come towards the end of the seasons, and sweeps time.

Well, until he went all evil n stuff. Hell, Angelus’s wisecracking evil may even trump Spike’s. Angelus was just a little bit deranged, which is nice. He had no connections to those outside of himself, where Spike obviously cared about Drusilla. I never liked Angel until I saw how eveil he could be, otherwise he comes off as a bit of a pussy, at least on Buffy.

Riley was always a pussy, though. Don’t ask me how a guy who’s part of a secret elite government demon-fighting force can be a pussy, but he pulled it off.

God, I sound like such a nerd.

I like to pick up the DVDs so I can watch everything at once. Like reading a novel. I’m definitely going to next time I’m at the mall.

I think my favorite part of season 4 was when Angelus was in the cage in the basement, great freaking character, made me feel uncomfortable watching him, always a good sign of an evil character.

Angel’s pussyness was the result of remorse over what he had done without a soul. Angelus as much more deranged… and fun… but no way could Angelus ever be with Buffy.

I have always wondered why Spike was the only one who made attempt at humanish connections. Was it because he was such a pansy in his former life? In the flashbacks, he is shown to be attempting to make those connections as well. Becoming evil couldn’t rid him of that basic desire?

Sometimes I liked Riley and sometimes I found him annoying. Although, I did like the Initiative and Maggie Walsh.
