Yet you fight just like me. C’mon, elk - face it - you are bizarro rainjack.

Rain, maybe you’re right, but I am pretty level headed around like people. It’s when I’m around hotheads that for some damn reason, I turn into one as well. Got nothing but love for you bro!
There’s about the same probability of all of us agreeing as there is of finding a damn Sasquatch (other then you of course Sasquatch). Laters, Elk

Have you read Plan of Attack by Bob Woodward?
It’s a gripping tale of how Bush’s cabinet (esp. Cheney,Wolfowitz and Rumsfeld) CAME INTO THE ADMINISTRATION with intentions to invade Iraq – 9/11 was their just cause. They twisted, manipulated and hoodwinked just about everyone – including the President. Whether it was personal or some sort of “strategery,” I don’t know, but perhaps both.

Thanks to Perot, no?

I love excuses. Right up your alley.
Wasn’t there a certain third party candidate running in '04? How did George fare with him in the mix?

If there was no Perot - there would have been no President Clinton.
Perot has lived his life, most of his adult life, in the shadows of the Bushes. The ONLY reaso he ran for president was to help George Senior lose.

This is a good point…I concede.
Do you think the same holds true regarding Nader in 2000? If there were no Nader, there’d be no President Bush?

That’s a hard call. I’d say we probably would have had to say President Gore for 4 years.
Funny how our special brand of politics plays out each November.
hey Elk, is there any justification for the war that you’d accept?
Not bashing, not attacking, just really curious. I read you saying it was wrong and you looked at the information and stuff, so that’s why I ask.
Thanks!
Kerry says he is the front runner? Is he electable in 2008…most likely not. A lot of bagggage and he is a NE liberal. That is not going to take the country.
How about Hillary? She has a chance. Certainly has the financial backing. I think she is a serious contender. Don’t know if she can win but stranger things have happened. A lot of history to defend and defend she will have to do. She may get picked apart by the Republicans by then.
Obama- Maybe. Wouldn’t hurt him to run in 2008. A little too soon but the exposure would help him. I second the idea of a run at Governor. That would solidify his resume in areas it is lacking. The guys connects with the audience…that’s crucial skill and rare. That’s why I would watch him now.
I think the Dems need to run an old fashioned Southern Domocrat. Somebody who can carry a few southern states. Is not liberal, or if he is ,is proud of it, is anti-gun control and strong on defense. If they can find someone like that, or who can appear to be like that, I think they have a shot. They got anybody that fit’s that description?
My opinion is that the dems have been taken over by a strong and vocal minority that is left leaning. That has caused the current problems they are having and as long as they control the party will continue to do so.
Howard Dean may have been a very bad choice but he had the backing of the vocal minority, that’s what’s important to the dems these days. I don’t see them getting it together until 2012.
Hedo,
I don’t think Kerry or Gore will be the nominee.
The Democrats are pretty ruthless about losers. You just don’t see a Carter, Mondale, Dukakis, or an Al Gore getting any serious consideration from them.
I would have liked to have been in the room in the fall of 2003 when Al boy sat down with the powers to be in the Democratic Party. I’ll bet it was contentious.
No wonder Al put on 50 pounds of fat and grew that ridiculous beard!!!
I think it’s probably going to be Hillary/Dean. If Obama is as intelligent as people give him credit for, he’ll bide his time. I agree the governership is a good idea. Unfortuntately, for him, coming from Illinois doesn’t really help him that much. Democrats are always going to win Illinois and Massachusets. Period.
I also agree that the Democrats aren’t going anywhere until they connect with the South and the Middle of the country.
The horseshit like “I’ve had one consistent position on Iraq” has to cease immediately. An Iowa farmer can spot a bullshit from 2000 miles away.
JeffR
The democrats have demonstrated they are loosers again and again with the last elections. You have to keep that in mind in reading comments from their supporters.
The King of Bodybuilding said it best shortly after the elections in November.
Peace…
Donnie…

It’s a good thing they got lucky enough to have 9/11 fall into their laps.
I certainly can’t say whether or not this happened. Do I personally believe that their first thought after securing the White House was “how are we gonna get Suddam”-No. But, I’m willing to believe that they wanted him gone and were harboring some feelings from Bush 1.
I’d like to think that these guys would not be able to, not only hoddwink the President, but also a majority of congress and the leaders of the Armed Forces. I’ll leave a little, of the little, space in my brain to concede this point in the future with more info.
Interesting idea RSU. I’ll most def. power read this book.
Speaking of Presidential Candidates and consistent policies (or lack thereof), guess who once said the following:
We know that dictators are quick to choose aggression, while free nations strive to resolve differences in peace.
If this were a dictatorship, it’d be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I’m the dictator.
I think war is a dangerous place.
And my personal favorite:
If we don’t stop extending our troops all around the world in nation-building missions, we’re going to have a serious problem coming down the road.
Quick! Make a baseless assumption about my political views! 1,2,3,GO…

I bought the audio CD and listened to it in the car – great info from a respected journalist…and, so you know, he presents Bush in a positive light throughout – as a man with more backbone than I can ever notice and as a man who has strong leadership qualities.
Just a word on Kerry for 2008 – he’s done. It would be a shocker if I supported him for the nomination. We weren’t excited about him in '04, and we won’t give him the time of day in '08.
I wish John McCain were president right now.

Does anyone else hear a high pitched squeaking/screeching type of noise?
It’s almost like a rat trapped in a wall or something…

In case you haven’t noticed, Baby Al - no one gives a shit about you or your political views.
I think the concensus is that you are an idiot little gamer that thinks he actually matters in this world. You don’t. You probably never will. But when you are 30 and still living in mommy and daddy’s house, I’m sure you will still be oblivious to the fact that you don’t even matter.
It’s not that people hate you - which would give you some sense of validation for being so alone - it’s that they pity you. Regardless of your political views, you are a pitifully lonely little boy.
