80-90 hour work weeks aren’t that bad. I did 80-90 hours for six months. Partied at night, and work up at 3 to go the gym.
Then I question what you mean by ‘work.’

I’ve often wondered this for those who say they work 70 to 90 hours per week. Is there even quality work being done past the 50 hour mark?

Yeah in my line of work there is rapidly diminishing returns after long hours. Ive done 90 hour weeks too and it is no joke when you are working at a high intensity and high complexity of work for long periods of time. Mistakes increase and integrity of critical systems become at risk.
I do have battles at times with workaholic mgmt types who want to have 24/7 on site support for a launch or something or a critical event just in case but I always push back that I want support teams to have a good nights sleep when I call them to fight a fire.

Well, I enjoyed the job, had good colleagues, traveled to new and interesting places, and made a pile of money.

what you have descirbed EVERYTHING with the only escpetion of the hours) is the unrealistic job that the OP is looking for. you should let him know what it was.

U mad bro ? Too much stress from work?
This is, without a doubt, 100% what I mean.
You don’t get it. You will one day, but you aren’t even on the road let alone the parking lot. You’ve got a ways to go before you’re in the ballpark yet.
I see this failed attempt to be clever as further proof of my points.
Consider this, if I was overly stressed at work, would I be posting here right now?
I dont even know what you’re talking about, other than the fact you got butt hurt at my response to debs post. All i can take away from your posts is someone whose whole life is dedicated to the pursuit of money, because with out money one’s life is not successful. Then some other stupid shit about entitlement and cupcakes.
If “getting it” means having money be the singular focus of ones life then i pray to god i never get it. I know plenty of people like that, and they suck at life.

Depends on the person. And depends if you’re counting billable hours v work hours.
Look at it like this. Typically I leave my house at 8am, get home at 630-700pm and only have 7ish billable hours. You start tacking on commute, meals and reading the paper, fucking around on here… And my work week is really 55+ hours a week, but only billable 36-38.
Tax season I leave my house at 8am and get home anywhere from Midnight to 2am Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Most Wednesdays I’m home by 630. Never work late on Friday, and work 9-230 on Saturday.
I dont even know what you’re talking about,
Tis quite apparent given your assumptive, childish, insulting conjecture that you continue to post.
You ignore entire things I say, because, well I have no idea really. Cognitive dissonance maybe…
And no, I wasn’t butthurt over your “reply” to Deb. I was simply pointing out you have the mentality of a child. And you continue to prove me right, so please, continue on.
For each one of your examples I can list people who work significantly “harder” for less, and people who work significantly “harder” for much, much more.
I’ve been pretty clear I’m talking in generalities here, common denominators. And the common denominator is that for the most part, somewhere along the line, the person (even those who are just comfortable) worked their ass off to get where they are. And more often than not, anyone making real money, works more than 2080 a year.

I ignore what you say, because you’re not saying anything. Why dont you get off the soapbox and make coherent point instead spouting off about 2080 hours, real money, and occupy cupcake street?

You ignore entire sections of my posts, entire posts themselves… Admit it, and then actually have the audacity to think your description of what they contain is accurate or in any way anything other than your own projection and conjecture?

Well done chap.

your intelligence and superiority in life confound me to such a degree that i can not comprehend your profound argument for slaving life away for “real money”
For each one of your examples I can list people who work significantly “harder” for less, and people who work significantly “harder” for much, much more.

Good points.
What do you consider “real money”? Totally not trying to bust balls here, but just curious. As I said, and I try to remain general most of the time too, I haven’t seen many people earning above the 150K or so mark without putting in some serious hours somewhere along the line or currently or if not clocking those hours, putting up with LOADS OF SHIT that most can’t handle. So I agree with much of what you say.

So to answer your question: depends.
Oh wait you’re counting non billable hours?
That changes everything
In that case I am going to count getting my hair done because it’s for work and showering because I think about work.
