Great to hear! Wait…you drove up to Seattle for a meet? Wow.
USAPL too. I just got finished reading their lifter’s handbook (I forgot that my meet is USPF, and read the wrong book! lol), and they are very strict. Congrats on that, particularly the squats!
How’d you feel on the platform for your first lift of the meet?
How’d you feel on your first red light?
Thanks MCL. Actually, I just moved to south of Seattle, so the meet was very close to my new home.
I was very nervous walking on the platform the first time, but all the advice I got here from the vets was spot on. I opened light, and that made all the difference. The only red lights I got were on total failures, so I felt fine with them. This was a great learning experience, you will have a great time at your first meet, especially because you will get to go with a team.
Outstanding. You did look like a seasoned pro. Your next meet will be even better. I thought the judge took a break on your first bench before telling you to go. Wife walked by while I was watching your deadlift vid. I’m yelling “pull, pull”. She, snidley, says, “he can’t hear you”. “Away woman, you understand nothing.”
Looked great, jack! I’m actually surprised they didn’t say something about the costume…USAPL rules say it’s supposed to be form-fitting, and it looked a bit loose on you. Then again, they really seem to care mostly about the lower part, so they can judge the bench and squat.

Thanks, Harry, I appreciate the cheering!
She did leave me hanging on my opener. She said my foot wasn’t planted properly. She was going “plant your foot. plant your foot. plant your foot.” So I did, then she called it. It felt like forever. She let one of the big guys in the open class with over 400 lbs. on the bar sit there for even longer for the same reason and then she ordered him to rack before lifting. He only had about 15 seconds left to complete the lift, but he did it. He was fuming.

Great work Jack. You look pretty comfortable. What was the total of the winner?
:). I was the only one in M1 22O, raw or geared. The winner of the raw M1 198 class was a little over 1200, I think. Not sure what the best male lifter of the whole meet totaled, I will post the chart when it goes up on the internet.

Great work! Congrats!
Hmm. It felt like my balls were pretty exposed, I wouldn’t want it any tighter. They were pretty strict with everything, and I passed the equipment check, so I guess form-fitting doesn’t mean skin tight.
On a side note, those BCS chicken shits matched TCU and Boise state, so neither will have the chance to prove themselves against a team from a power conference. What a pathetic system.

There are so many things wrong with the singlet rule in raw lifting… but, my saying is, go with the flow and let the moose knucles show. I wonder if it would be illegal equipment if you were stuffing a sock in there?

Good poundages for a first meet and well executed.
Congratulations!
When’s your next one?
Thanks, DCA. The USAPL state meet is in Feb., but I think I have a conflict. I will likely try another local meet in June, which will also give me a little more time to train.
Edit: these posts are coming up slow, sorry for the partial double.
Thanks DCA, LS and Kimba! DCA, the next scheduled meet is the USAPL state meet in Feb., but it looks like I have a conflict. I would like to do a local meet that is scheduled for June. This will give me a little more time to train as well. I would like to get a few more solid training cycles in.
