What? you didn’t get yours?

I didn’t take this as shit slinging. The only other plausible explanation involves options like the mail man or a pizza delivery boy, so I figured Pete was just being kind.

Actually there is the odd chance that it might be your genetics. I have pictures showing I started off cute. Somewhere along the way things, well, changed.

Pete, I guess we both suffer from reverse-ugly-duckling syndrome.

Meet prep:

Squats: 45 x10, 90 x 10, 135 x 5, 185 x 3, 225 x 1, 275 x 1, 315 x 1, 355 x 1 (ATG, paused at bottom).

Bench: 45 x 25, 90 x 20, 135 x 5, 185 x 1, 225 x 1, 255 x 1 (at least 3 sec pause)

Deads: 135 x 1, 225 x 1, 275 x 1, 315 x 1, 365 x 1, 405 x 1 (hold 6-8 secs, exaggerate hit lock out).

Notes: I felt pretty good today, but I am over weight. I weighed in at 226 Sunday and cut out carbs, 224 today. I am hoping I have 4 more lbs. of water to lose.

I took Pete’s advice to SD under consideration, but don’t feel like a BB type pump will work for me. We shall see. I don’t feel spent today and think my recovery will be just about right come Saturday. Time will tell.

I am also concerned about commands. I decided to hold after squating before racking to simulate waiting for a rack command, but forgot to do it at 315 and 355! I am not sure what to do about this, as I should have been training with commands before now, but didn’t. We’ll see what happens. This is likely my last time in the Gym before Saturday.

Also, in USAPL, I am not sure whether I need to convert my weights to Kilos. Anyone know? If so, am I going to run into rounding issues?

Tentative lifts:

Squat: 355, 385, 405

Bench: 255, 275, 285

Deads: 405, 435, 465

the kilo situation varies state to state, literally: for instance, MN USAPL is kilo, WI is pounds. You should be able to confirm with your meet director or on the state website. Here is a handy converter:

let me know if you have any questions, PM me if you want. Now relax…

Hmm, doesn’t look like the PDF posted. If you want it send me your email.

Good luck on Saturday Jack!

We mail men do get around. You’ve trained hard, you’re ready. Take a couple real good craps, clear the body and the mind.

Thanks Pete and SD. It looks like the meet will be conducted in Kilos.

Harry, back when I was skiing, we called it the “pre-jump dump.”

Looking good, JJ. Good luck in your meet this weekend.

Jack-You’re a beast!! The meet will be a cakewalk…Have a great time! Best of Luck

Thanks Math and OG!

Yesterday I drank several gallons of water and ate turkey and raw spinach and broccoli all day–that’s it. I weighed in at 226 when I went to bed, and, a couple of good leaks later, I hit 220 on the button this morning. Water manipulation is a wonderful thing.

Today’s GPP: walked down and up big ass hill then ate a dozen eggs,a pot of coffee, and a whole red pepper. Back to chicken breast, water, spinach, and broccoli for the rest of the day.

Yesterday’s GPP/MMA: Pulled my sister’s 160 lbs. bullmastiff off my 90 lbs. boxer, with two other boxers trying to get into the mix,and with three screaming toddlers and their mommies about 5 feet away. It was spooky. That damn dog had a death grip around my dog’s neck and just wouldn’t let go. He just freaking snapped. He was shaking him and tossed him around like a rag doll. Ripped his neck open and hurt his hind legs pretty good. And my dog is pretty damn muscular. I had to crocodile hunter the mastiff and it took me about 5 minutes to pull his jaws open, while we were all flopping around on the ground. He’s better today, but moving pretty slow. I sure as shit wouldn’t want to try and handle more than one of those beasts at a time.

In my meager experience I have found my nerves will drop a good 5 pounds the week before a meet. I was talking to one guy at a meet who was pissed, he was weighing around 232-234 most of the time with watching his diet, figured what the hell, might as well gain an extra 6 pounds a be a fuller 242. He started pigging out on everything the last two weeks before a meet and still came in under 230.

That is a lot of dog to be yanking away at. I quit taking my dogs to the dog park here because they won’t put up with other dogs poor social skills. A while back a little husky tried humping my St. Bernard. She didn’t like that, and her roommate, my American Bull Dog, walked over to the husky and put his big head on the husky’s as quiet warning. Well, about 5 minutes later the husky tried to hump my Am Bull. Next thing I knew both of the husky’s back legs were in my dogs jaws, and the stupid stoner owner was crying and yelling… good times.

I just gave my limited experience advice to soldog as well.

Items to remeber:
1.belt
2.chalk
3.singlet
4.lifting shoes/extra socks
5.sweat shirt and exercise pants
6.cooler for food and drinks
7.food/power bars
8.water/gatorade/power drinks
9.iPod
10. print a lbs to kg coversion chart just in case

Don’t assume they’ll supply chalk. I got cold waiting between lifts so I wore my sweat shirt and pants. The PB & J was easy on my stomach and gave a lot of energy. Remember to follow all commands. My first meet I blew a rack command with bench and the lift was no good. I think you’ll find fellow lifters are very friendly and willing to help or give advice.

That’s all I can think of right now. Go have a great time and set some PRs!!

Wishing you all white lights tomorrow Jack!

Thanks Pete, Eco and SD! And thanks, Eco, for the list. Fortunately, the meet is literally 4 minutes away and I will have family there, so if I forget something it shouldn’t be a big deal. I weighed in at 217.9 this morning, so unless I do something stupid–which is very possible–I should make weight. But weigh-in for men isn’t until noon, and lifting is at 2, so that kinda sucks. That’s down from 227 Monday morning, but I still fell pretty good.

Good luck Jack, go get’em.

Jack- best of luck! Have fun, go heavy and report soon!

Kick some butt! Looking forward to the results from you and sd.

Get some, jj. Looking forward to the report.
