Fighting with Jesus, whom you believe is a fictional character? How do you fight with a fictional character? And if he’s not fictional, then you want to fight with a man of peace, who tells people to love one another, treat each other as you wish to be treated? Hmmm… does your mommy read bedtime stories from Nietzsche to you or what?[/quote]
Where were you last year when we had a “greatest fighter” thread. A bunch of believers where defending Jesus as the best fighter ever.
Why? Is my intelligence now void? If I find a cure for cancer (unlikely, but for the sake of discussion) won’t anyone want to use it? You seem to imply that by signing my soul away, I have forfeited this life as well as your fictional afterlife.
I intend to make the most of this life, as I fully expect the after-death part to be identical to the before-birth part.
If I’m wrong, you’ll have Eternity to say “I told you so.” If I’m right, well, we’ll never know. Doesn’t seem fair. ![]()
There you go with the fiction again.

Still, that thread was interesting. For one, it was yanked by T-Nation, something I don’t remember seeing done with any other thread (I guess offering visitors to sign away their soul is bad for business or something…); and two, for all the self-proclaimed atheists who somehow had to pussyfoot around your original wording to avoid signing it directly. A lot of people lack the courage of their convictions, it seems.

I have not seen this thread and the Oogie/Prof X thread also disappeared.
What is the point of swearing allegiance to Satan if I?m going to hell anyway?
Wait a minute…

It wasn’t swearing allegiance, it was agreeing to be an eternal chew toy.
You can still read the thread here: http://www.T-Nation.com/readTopic.do?id=936546 (found via search). It’s just not shown in the forums.

Let’s turn off our brains and pretend your God actually exists. What will He thinketh of you daring other people to sign away their souls? Aren’t you supposed to try and bring lost souls to the Lord, not hand’em over to Satan while cackling with glee?

Not to answer for Headhunter, but personally, my flesh is always warring against my spirit. Part of me would like to see you all get saved and live and eternity in heaven. Yet, because you are so blasphmous and vile, the worldly part of me wouldn’t mind stepping on your ashes as you burn.
Call me human.

Is that the same worldly part of you that threatened to bitch-slap somebody on an internet forum? I think your worldly side is winning.

Yes!
That is why I have a savior in Jesus!
That is why you need a savior in Jesus!
As flawed humans, we do flawed things. You of all people should know that swordthrower!

No matter how much we disagree on many things, I have no wish to see you (or anyone else on these forums) suffer or come to harm in any way. I wouldn’t enjoy seeing you “burn” or getting a beating, or experience any other physical harm.
How does one derive joy from another’s suffering?

Ok, so basically you have an excuse to act like an idiot, and even to do harm to others. Because in the end, you are just a “flawed” human and couldn’t help it, and will be forgiven.
Hey, I like your reasoning! If I want to go on a killing spree, I should just find Jesus beforehand, and then I’ll be scot free.
You know, Ivan, sometimes when I read your posts I secretly hope that you are 12 years old, because I can imagine no other explanation for your childish simplicity. Faulknerian man-child, anyone?

I thought for a while of how to answer this. Please read and think before responding.
I think we would both agree that human beings are free to make choices. You are free to step off of a tall building. You are free to step in front of a speeding train. BUT, you ARE NOT FREE to escape the consequences of these acts. Let me repeat: you are free to choose, but not free to escape the consequences of that choice.
You may think that I am delusional. The night that my fiance died many years ago, the Lord spoke to me. I swear upon my immortal soul that, just as if you were in the same room speaking to me, I heard His voice. It was a voice like I have never heard before or since. I know, of course, that I cannot prove this to you but, as I said, I swear upon my immortal soul that I speak the truth.
So, laugh if you will, but I KNOW that God exists AND that there are consequences to denying Him. He probably would forgive those who deny Him, but those who speak out against Him must accept the consequences. You are free, free to deny, free to mock, free to do as you wish. There are consequences to those choices.
No, I do not cackle with delight when someone condemns themselves. That is their choice. I merely point out that such actions have consequences. Perhaps the ‘shock value’ of my Jaws of Satan thread made some aware of that. And, like you Pookie, I wish no evil upon anyone. Each person is a creation of God and deserves the respect that goes with that. BUT, what would you do to a whiny child who laughs in the face of his parent? Would you speak up? I did.
God bless!!
HH

Agreed.
He spoke to you at a time when you where experiencing extreme mental anguish, loss and deep sorrow (I presume). But He’s never spoken to you in those moments where you’re more level-headed. My view on that is that you hallucinated his voice as a coping mechanism; not knowing how to deal with such a difficult event, your brain “self-deluded” itself to make the situation bearable. Losing someone you love deeply is “easier” if you’re convinced that person lives on somewhere… No one is ready to deal with the sudden loss of a loved one at a young age.
I never went through anything like that and I certainly don’t wish to find out how I’d cope.
That is interesting in itself. If you’re truly convinced of God’s reality, then your “Jaws of Satan” thread is pretty much the equivalent of handing a loaded handgun to a toddler, is it not? I’ve never “heard” god; never had a spiritual experience or awakening or whatever you want to call it. When I say I strongly suspect there isn’t a god, I’m being honest. There simply no way the idea of God makes any sense to me.
So, from my point of view, signing your contract was without consequences, similar to agreeing to marry Bugs Bunny for example.
But you, you claim not to believe or even strongly believe, but to actually KNOW, beyond any doubt that God is real and that I will suffer for Eternity because I took your dare.
If I knew of something that was garanteed to harm whoever did it, I wouldn’t go around daring people to try it.
Well there weren’t many takers, but the thread was short-lived. I still wonder about your motives if you really know what you claim to know. Personally, I think you don’t really believe anymore than anyone else really does, it’s simply convenient to claim so. My personal opinion, that’s all.
Your “Jaws…” thread seems to say otherwise.
I’d discipline the child in such a way that the punishment would fit the affront. Eternal torment seems a bit over the top. In fact, I can’t really think of any crime for which Eternal Torment would be a fitting match.

There is NO “eternal torment”. This is a huge misconception. I’m not trying to prove God exists right now to you, just trying to help you understand some things.
Please watch the video or read the short study from the link below. Go to - “Is The Devil In Charge Of Hell?”
If there are any other non believers or even Christians who are curious how a loving God could allow someone to “burn for eternity”, please, please watch the video or read the short study. The topic of “eternal hell” is a huge reason why people turn away from the Bible.
The link that I gave above will explain all of the misconceptions and myths about hell.

Amazing Facts started out as a radio show that gave an amazing fact about the earth, usually science related, at the beginning of each radio broadcast. So keep making fun of things that you know nothing about.
Did you even get the message that I was trying to get across, or are you just just so completely close minded that you automatically right things off as being garbage if it has anything to do at all with the Bible? I was trying to help you understand something about the Bible, not trying to make you believe in it as I stated. Why can’t you take it, even for simple educational purposes?
People love to go off on their little tangents about things that they haven’t studied in the least. Is this your “scientific method”, to keep writing it off as B.S. before even studying it. Why Pookie, why?
I get tired of the “stereotypical” nonsense like “eternal torment” that gets thrown around at Christians. But go ahead and continue to not listen and not educate yourself on the things that you are attacking, it makes you look very intelligent.
Pookie, you stated “eternal torment”. Can you please elaborate on the topic of eternal torment that you found in the Bible? You may find it difficult because the Bible doesn’t mention “eternal torment”.
Instead of me trying to prove to you that God exists, how about you start proving with scripture that the Bible actually says what you are claiming that it says.
