This much you have to agree with. The American public knows more about the menu @ McDonalds than anything that may affect the future of the country.

So true!

You are right rainjack. I was wrong. If you do see the movie Fog of war. It gives a great description of our entry into total war with a third world country.

MacNamara talks about how we saw the war as something totally different from how the N. Vietnamese saw it. They saw it as a civil war. We saw it as an extension of the cold war.

I think if more people saw this movie, they would realize that we get ourselves into wars as a result of business influences and the industrial complex. A great movie.

…Democrats and Republicans are destroying our country…

I agree!

Yes, The Gulf of Tonkin was used to justify an escalation of U.S. intervention. This ceratinly isn’t the first time the U.S. has used this tactic. It’s an old familiar one used by many countries.

It highlights the different objectives of those “at the top” and the citizenry of a particular country.

Ari Ben-Menashe was a former Mossad agent who described in his book(Profits of War) about the Mossad hiring Arabs who unknowingly carried out terrorist attacks against Americans, inflaming the American public against the Arabs.

In particuar he described how Mossad agents were paying Palestinians to sieze the Mediterranean cruise ship Achille Lauro in 1985, which ended in the killing of one passengers. Ironically the passenger was Jewish. The attacks upon the cruise ship was financed by Isreal, and it’s intent was to show what a deadly bunch of citthroat bunch the Palestinians were. The American public was told that the attack on the Achille Lauro was a Palestinian operation, when in fact it was engineerd and financed by Israel.

The U.S. caught an Isreali spy ring a few years back which was absolutly enormous. They had more spies in this country than any other friendly nation in the history of the world. If I’m not mistaken they even surpassed those of enemy states. With “friends” like this who needs enemies?

I’m going to read that.

Bored with the conspiracy theories. If I want fiction I’ve got a Barnes and Noble close by.

Yeah I was kinda waiting for that to. It’s so sad that it always seems to come down to arguements presented with a Republican viewpoint and a democrat viewpoint. There is very little difference between both parties and they serve wealthy constituents. They have very little interest in the public need insofar as it keeps them in power. I think it’s such a colossal waste of time that people sit hear and protect the Democrats or Republicans as if it were truly their families. Read posts on here and you will see that people attach so much importance on presenting arguements that give off the impression that their party is winning. Niether party gives a shit about the common man but folks on hear have deluded themselves otherwise. But of course the huge corporate propaganda machine has much to do with it. However, as Ventura has said… it has a lot to do with lazy apathetic Americans.

He has to be smeared just like any other person with information that will embarrass political leaders!

If you like that try finding a book that talks about the bombing of the U.S. liberty in 1967 by Isreal.

Isreali forces deliberately machine-gunned and bombed a virtually unarmed U.S. Navy communication ship, the U.S. Liberty, killing several dozen U.S. sailors(June 8th, 1967). The Liberty carried clear markings indicating it to be an American ship, and Isreal knew that. The attack , occuring off the coast of Lebanon.

As Isreali fighter planes approached the Liberty, the pilots radioed and protested to their base, “It’s an American ship”, Tel Aviv disregared the piolot’s protests and ordered the fighters to attack. The brutal and bloody assaultcontinued for almost half an hour, during which time missles, naplam, and torpeodoes were used to kill thirty-four Navy men and injuring 171 others.

U.S. sailors intercepted Isreali radio communications relating to a planned attack on Syria that occured the following day, and Isreal felt the Americans would not agree with the strike and expose the sneak attack. The attack was tp prevent the revealing of intedned attrack on Syria.

As other U.S. ships and aircraft started to go to defend the ship they were called back. Despite the gravity of the situation the navymen were - as many times before and since - expendable. The U.S. media kept the lid on the awful tragedy as usual.

The immensly powerful Isreali lobbies went on the offensive and threw out all kinds of disinformation and began a campaign of blackmailing political leaders.

Isreal said they didn’t know the ship was American. They thought it was an Egyptian supply ship the, El Quseir. However, that ship was known to be in Alexandria. And the truth was that the radio messages were intercepted by the American embassy in Beirut.

In 1991, former U.S. Ambassador , Dwight porter, revealed the radio communications intercepted by his office in Lebannon on that fateful day in 1967, revealing that Isreal commandes knew the ship was an American ship and that they were killing American soldiers. These allegations were supported by others.

The attack orders were supposedly given by General Yitzak Rabin. Rabin has had a history of terrorist activities despite being portrayed by the Bush 1 Administration as being a peacemaker.

The media protecting those who perpetrated and overed up for the murder of U.S. sailors ignored the June 7th 1997 memorial services held by the surviving Liberty crewmen.
