Jersey Shore 3

Yeah, those are really good points.

And I agree 100% it is fucked sideways.

I have yet to find an effective way to get my 13yo to give a shit about washing his balls appropriately consistently. I’ll shoot for real world problems later, lol.

To be serious, I work with kids in their mid 20’s who have zero clue, or inclination to learn about how the government or any of that shit works.
I agree with you, but I think we all need to put the obvious damage of it to our children in perspective.

I do not want censorship, but this goes show where we have come today… as a society …when shows like Jersey Shore are so popular today for “entertainment”.

Yes this has been going on for a long time, more now than EVER I think. As a parent, I have 10 shields up at all times, and it is never enough.

Violence, sex, Love, yes it’s all entertaining, but today, they just take on a new fucked up level.
I don’t know if it is any worse than it was, or just different.

I think I’m too young still (31) to really have the enough perspective to say if I feel it is worse than before.

You could very well be right.

And Romans used to have the gladiator matches. Yes…bad as can be to see, but it was never aired on TV. I think coming from

 1. Word of mouth
 2. printed press distribution
 3. TV
 4. Internet

All of this combined has an effect.

Anything you want… from disturbing to safe is 2 seconds away.

That is what is different.

You guys have been making very valid points in your debate. But it is as simple as this… be a role model to your children, because they WILL try to imitate you and be like you. Kids are not going to try to become like DJ Pauly because they see him on TV, they are going to try to be as strong and responsible as mom/dad because mom/dad is always in his/her life. Hang out with your kids and be with them as much as possible because they will grow up intelligently without you having to sit them down and explain to them everything.

I recently graduated from high school, and in my experience most kids I knew that were inmature/stupid/annoying/failures/etc had people that made you question their right to procreate as parents.

Be the role model, do not let DJ Pauly become their role model.

I was definitely right about this being the most awesome season ever. Heres a run down-
Jwow gets dumped
Sammie punches Ron in the face and leaves
Vinny finally getting tons of Ass
Sitch and Ron fights
Ron will eventually have a huge meltdown

Taking the room with 3 beds was a total dick move. Someone needs to put Ron in his place, he should know better than that. None of the other guys on the show have the balls to do it though.

Sitch isn’t going to fight Ron, he knows he can’t hang.

I wish Jenny knew how to land a punch. Sammie needs her fucking teeth knocked out.

Tsk tsk. Say SPOILER first!

I hope we get this season over here soon, or at least some means to view it online.

If you’d do your job as a parent… you can let your kids watch all the jersey shore they want and they wont turn retarded as most dumb parents fear their kids do.
I’d rather do the job without encouraging watching. While that may make sense, like taking your teenager to a drug crackhouse, or a whorehouse or prison for the educational experience, but that’s pretty counter-intuitive.

You are right, it’s all up to the parents, but the fact it exists, along with playboy bunny shows, Kardashiens, etc it’s narcissist hooking-up, and hedonistic lifestyles MYV and the like are pushing onto society…and like dumb asses we watch it, keeping the shows on the air.

How does one explain to a child that the “Popular” culture we see with all the pop stars they love is bad, and all these types of shows are perverted… when it’s what networks are pushing?

I think it runs a lot deeper than being a good parent. Parenting is a lot, but society also play a role, and right now, society says “Please yourself and Fuck the Family”.
good post.
But this has been going on since the 80’s.

These perversions of society are interesting, because most of us don’t want to live our lives like that, but DO want to see what it is like.

TV in general is trash, and if your going to get all up in arms about these types of shows, you should be looking to pull violent video games, action movies and porn too. It is all the same “anti-family” shit if you sit down and look at it.

Most people worth it, look down on these people and these shows, but also watch because it is entertaining to see what living a fucked life is like.

I don’t know… In a world where a bunch of priests can rape little boys, and the Church covered up the crime they KNEW about… A group of stupid TV shows is the least of my worries as a parent. Shit it works as a great fucking example of how NOT to live your life.

I see your guys point, I guess I just see other areas as more important in the “degradation of the kids”.

You teach your child to be an independent individual and to think for themselves, not let TV tell them what to think. You don’t have to be a social outcast and live like this either. Fashion and shit, fine. But how to live your life and act in public, fuck that. That would be the day.

I guess my problem is that I don’t want any censorship, and America has been more and more pro conservative censorship ever since Janet’s nipple showed up in the Super Bowl. We’re turning into a bunch of puritan pussies that can’t raise our own kids, TV and advertising does.

Awesome post.

X2. You’d think for all that tough girl talk every episode, JWOW would have someone teach her how to throw a punch or kick.
Totenkopf wrote:

It’s shit, from the little I’ve seen.
countingbeans wrote:
Thing is, I talked to my 13 year old about it. He doesn’t see it as anything to emulate. He thinks they are retards, and the girls are nasty. It was a simple conversation. Just like when he bought Black Ops. I sat down with him and talked about how shooting people in the video game is one thing, but violence against someone else in real life is wrong, unless you are defending yourself. He understood that too. Just like when we shut off the Fast and Furious movie, we talked about how driving like that in real life is stupid, etc etc etc…
Not to derail this thread, and while I wholeheartedly respect this, I’m just curious; did your parents have to explain this too when you were that age?

I’m just wondering if times are changing [have changed] that much, in that kids don’t have a sense of logic in basic right and wrong. I’m not saying that’s your case, maybe you’re doing what you’re supposed to do and being extra cautious to make sure your kid(s) perfectly understand where to draw the line.

My parents never needed lectured me on the violence of video games and influence of tv and how to separate it from real life, did you find that the same?

Lol,Thanks! No im not trying to look like the Situation. My hair sucks so the only way it looks good is if I got a high fade and spiked up my hair. I would NEVER buy Ed Hardy.

But in your threads, alternate opinions are not allowed?

I thought I was very clear and non insulting actually, while expressing my dislike. If I criticize something I’m being insulting? Really?

Its not like I said “Anyone who watches this show is a complete fucking moron.”…now that’s an insult.
You very well know your intentions and what you meant with your chosen words. Don’t play politician with me. I can spot bullshit from a mile away, as well as I’ve seen you be able to in the past.

Having a differing opinion and coming in and shitting on people & their opinion are two different things, and you certainly weren’t presenting a differing opinion.

Point is, why bother coming in to “talk” about it if it is beneath you in the first place?

I just don’t get it. Does it make you feel better to let the world know you don’t like something MILLIONS of other people do? (Not just you, this shit happens all the time around here.)
LOL. Fair enough. Yes, I hate the show.

Reason:

I am a 40 YO father of daughters and believe it to be a huge crime against out society to glorify stupidity and narcisism and it’s simple dangerous for the pre-teens as they catch glimpses of it, news shots etc of these morons. It’s my responsibility as a parent to keep them from watching, but it’s leaking out enough that my 8 and 11 year old’s know who these clowns are.

Nothing against any of you…but I fuckin hate it!
Rockscar, if this show was on 10-15 years ago, do you think you would’ve watched it?
Maybe, maybe not. Shows like this would never had made TV 15 years ago. We didn’t glorify stupidity as much back then like TV shows do now.

I remember watching the launch of MTV when it was actually video music.

But let me ask you…how many kids try to mirror these fools today?

My distaste comes from being a father of daughters and that this crap is what the kids really like and want to be like today.

Many won’t understand this line of thinking.
I get you completely on this. I started watching it when I realized that it was actually an accurately hilarious show about how shallow and pathetic much of my generation has become. This is the only reality show I have ever watched, and I do it because it is so realistic. The reALism is a major issue. Even if your kids are under 10 they are not only exposed to this shit way eArlier than they should with no supervision, they are surround3ed by many peers who are already beggining to behave like the pieces of shit they see on tv.

With that said, when the kids are asleep, sit down have a drink or two and force yourself to watch five minutes (I admit the only way I can watch the show is to switch away at least once every five minutes, otherwise the sheer stupidity of these people makes my eyes hurt), I guarantee you will laugh.
You might also cry at the current/future of our culture but thats another topic.
