To be fair, Romo has earned a lot of the hate. And I am not one that judges quarterbacks on championships or post-season play. However, when you blow it when it matters most as much as Romo has, he earned his critics. From a Giants fan, I will freely admit that we probably would not have either of the last two Super Bowls without Romo missing a wide open Miles Austin and just not getting it done with the Cowboys in full control of their own destiny.
Okay lets analyze this, last night the showed the stats that he surpassed Marino and Kurt Warner. Kurt has one ring and Marino has none. So for the time they played in the league with one ring together, I am pretty sure they had to lose at some point. So technically they choked as much as Rome did.
Choking is not the same as losing. Not playing great is not the same as choking for the most part. Choking is watching the Saints kicker miss the extra point after multiple laterals on a kickoff at the end of the game scored them a touchdown to put them within 1, choking is Bill Buckner. Not all of Romo’s losses are chokes. Choking is missing the easy plays to put the games away. If Romo forces a pass or two that gets picked trying to make something happen, that isn’t choking. Miles Austin 10 yards behind everyone being overthrown by 10 yards is a choke, fumbling a snap as a holder is a choke. Romo does these things more than most.
You can find your niche, Peyton is the greatest regular season QB of all time, Montana was spectacular in the post season, Marino was amazing in the regular season, Brady has been a consistent winner in all aspects, Elway and Favre could make miracles happen. Romo has none of that. He is a great QB most of the time, except when it matters most with an ultra talented team. Manning had a sub .250 team winning 13 games a year.

I love football. It is a game. For me I like calling penalties before the refs catch them. My father-in-law tells me all the time I need to be a ref.

…and since you appear to be an honest man with principles, as a ref, what would you do when the Great Conspirators come to envelop you in their Great Cloak of Conspiracy to fix all NFL games…???

I better get paid a lot of money.
If I was a ref it was because I love the game. I would do it for free, so no amount of money could force me to rig a game.

I agree. I don’t see refs making bank, hell they went on strike last year. Do people really think the NFL would let them go on strike, or rather get to that point, if they had been doing shaddy shit in the games?

These guys are mostly Lawyers when the season is out. They do make $125-250k a year as refs though.
