Read today’s Strong Words.
And i’d have to agree with James Woods on this one. Name one young actor who is the epitome of a T-Man? Quickly, the clock is ticking. cue the Jeopardy music

Diesel
Bale
Whalberg
Tyrese
Statham
bale and statham aren’t american, and wahlberg is a real stretch…

Nah, I agree with Wahlberg, but, Diesel can’t act for shit.
I’d say the Rock is still up there. Maybe Denzel Washington too.
Because he says plainly what so many of us here lament?
Yeah, I agree Irish. When everyone thinks those metro ladies from entourage are uber cool somethings wrong. What happened to Holden, Lancaster, Eastwood, Mcqueen, Jim Brown, Bronson, and others?
D
Playing a cool guy and playing a tough guy are two COMPLETELY different things. Dont confuse the two.
Men in America are so pathetic now. Have you noticed anytime they want that quintessential sort of brute, primal male, they cast an Australian?
I guess you’re an entourage fan. In my (my) opinion those guys aren’t even cool. My idea of a cool, encompassing tough as well, would be the actors I mentioned and the characters they played so well. If you were walking into a rough and tumble dive bar who would you want backing you up and being totally cool about it. The entourage ladies? Or, Eastwood, Bronson, or Brown. Hey, I know their actors, but they could probably throw down pretty well in real life if needed. But, thanks for not wanting me to be confused.

I’m sure if just being an asshole qualifies one as “primal”.

Of course, that show is supposed to take place in the 70s.
Lot more of them around then…
My favorite red line: (paraphrased)
Eric: “You were 17 once dad, what were you doing on prom night when you were 17”
Red" My prom date was a Japanese sniper and I spent all night trying to shoot him out of a tree"
Woods is generally right. Couple of exceptions but not many.
Some of these arguments are pitiful. A couple of people bring up acting ability, but I don’t think Woods said a single word about that. Also, mentioning one corny movie/music career someone had doesn’t mean shit.
Around the World in 80 Days, Jingle All the Way, Junior anybody? I don’t think anyone here would call Arnold pathetic. How about Stop or My Mom Will Shoot? And don’t even get me started on Sly’s acting ability…
P.S. Before someone says it, yes, I realize Arnold is not American either. I was simply making an example of someone who most would consider an “Alpha Male” doing some cheesy movies…
I’d call him an idiot too, if he was WRONG! But he’s not wrong at all, he’s dead on.
If you read Charles Poliquin’s Q&A, T levels are now 30% lower on average than only 20 years ago (IIRC). That’s GOTTA have something to do with it.
I have a (no names) guy very close to me that get’s his hair frosted, eyebrows waxed, wears too much gay-smelling cologne etc., etc.
I asked my wife to compare him to a 70 y/o regular customer of her restaurant. This guy is a tough, hard working (owns an excavation company) guy from a time when men were men. He’s the strong, silent type while being friendly and generous. I’m half his age and twice his weight but I’d still hate to have him mad at me.
Where have these guys gone? Maybe Australia IS the place to go.
Australia has Steve Irwin (R.I.P.), Crocodile Dundee and Mel Gibson et. al and we have the Kratt Brothers (Zaboomafoo), The lead guy in SCRUBS and John Tesh.
Maybe my choices above are misrepresentative of both sides but my point still stands.
One of my gay clients is more manly than most heterosexual guys I know.

Marky Mark grew up in a fairly tough part of Boston and did some time for assault – not that either of those things necessarily makes him a tough guy, but he’s GOTTA be tougher than Tyrese!
I am not talking about the troops here. I just don’t like shitting on Americans. Why would any of you Americans like it? Is it some sort of post-modern, depressed, “cool” bullshit?

Oh, and I still love you Simon Helecus.
The majority of the civilian American guys I see on a daily basis would get their asses whooped in a slap fight with an 11th grade girl. What the hell are you defending?
