You forgot this was teh internetz. Coulda make the censor bigger.
Deadlifts looked good and physique is coming along nicely, good stuff Jake.
Thanks guys! Surprisingly loading the carbs at gradually (ie. maybe 300g a day or so) over a week made me look fuller and fuller over my week away and now is by far the biggest I’ve ever looked despite weighing about 186/187 morning weight. I will try and grab some photo/video either today or tomorrow morning to display the tan aesthetics.
Today marks 8 days of no training unless I go in shortly, but considering I only was still on the plane at 6am this morning, I may wait until tomorrow and hit it extra hard.
In other news:
- Almost definitely got a 2/1 on my degree (my goal)
- Got a new part-time job the same day I came back from Ibiza (today). Dat protein money.
Well done on your degree and job man!
Congrats on the degree. You going to lower the carbs straight away or roll with it for a while?
Just realised I have pretty much the exact same picture you posted with Centopani from LAST years Expo! (didn’t go this yr)
Jake’s back toooo. Congrats on Life PRs bro!
@rattler: Thanks! Got lucky with the job but my lack of social life seemed to pay off for the degree, ha.
@DC: Cheers. I’m pretty much straight onto “bulking” diet but might take it relatively easy for the first week (ie. 3500~ rather then 4k+) and see how that effects my weight and go from there. Carbs will be moderate/high again. Centopani is awesome but no one else seemed to recognise him, no queue lol.
@Jab: Thanks. Yep, training hard is pretty much the only thing I was looking forward to coming back to. I’ve just gotta get a life balance going so I don’t just become a social recluse who only works/gyms every day.
Good to see you are locking in all kinds of life gains bro, good stuff mayne.

Cheers brah, back to them gym gains now too I hope.
Double Smolov
Squat
Oly/beltless/sleeves - 119/262 x 9 - 119/262 x 6 - add belt - 119/262 x 6 - 119/262 x 7 - 8 reps short - 119/262 x 6 - low rest - 119/262 x 2
Bench Press
No wraps - 75/165 x 6 - 75/165 x 6 - 75/165 x 6 - 75/165 x 6 - 75/165 x 6 - 75/165 x 6 - rest varied from 40-120 seconds, very easy, started conservative with my bench number for this.
Yes, I am craycray starting double smolov the day after I arrived home from Ibiza but the benching should be pretty easy/I might up the max and I’m just hoping my body catches up to the squatting again despite the fact I weighed 185.4 before this session. Eating lots again is the name of the game.
I fully expect double gains with the new plan and eating.
Looking forward to seeing you smash some weight.
What are your goals for the bench and squat with smolov? I’m debating running a bench cycle with it so I don’t suck so much.
Double smolov? In 4 da injury!
In all seriousness, good luck brah, hopefully she treats you kinder than she did I…
@samoth: Should be the case, hitting both 100%.
@rattler: It would be nice to put up at least 112.5kg or so after smolov jr. considering I think I had it in me with a true max before my holiday, anything above that would just be bonus. Then I’m pretty sure Coan bench where the goal will be at least 125kg by the end of the programme. Squat realistically I’d be happy to at least match my previous PR but if I get through it I would be on for more, then onto intense phase where I’d like a minimum of 180kg/4pps by the end of it.
@phlegms: Literally was thinking “what would phlegms do” when I thought this up. As I said, bench should be easy, perhaps too easy for maximum gains, but squatting will take a hell of a lot of gains and food to finish it.

Sounds like a good goal. I’d love to put up 125/130kg this summer too if I can. I have done 115 before but I just don’t feel as natural benching as I do deadlifting.

I hear you bro. Slowly clicking for me now though so getting optimistic about eventually not sucking.
How do you like that hook grip on deads? I cant get used to it.
Congrats on graduating.

Thanks man, kind of gutting that “stage” of my life is over but I’ll just have to make sure I make this one awesome despite no uni.
Hook grip feels utterly horrible but it does work and to me just feels like a much more painful version of using straps, I’d say I was only limited by the pain factor as I pulled heavier then I ever had double overhand easily otherwise. I’ll be using it as often as I can so I only have to double overhand on top sets and avoid “dat bicep tear” without resorting to straps (which I still hate for pulling for some reason)
So what you planning for training. Smolov bench and squat and what else? how many days a week and what kind of scheudle you gonna run. Very interested.

This week I might do the double smolov with no assistance of any kind and just a back day (which I’m going out to do after this post). I will probably throw some lateral and posterior deltoid work perhaps tomorrow and maybe some deadlift singles up to 400~ on the last day of the week, then my second week I will be doing a little more in terms of actually working abs and calves, but with pretty minimal volume/frequency considering the workload. I’ll work biceps at some point this week too so will use that session to add any assistance I fancy (traps for example). I’ll be building up the assistance volume as I go along, fully intend to be in the gym probably every day doing something though.
