Hey man, when bringing your grip out, start slowly…I used to bench with ring finger on the rings, and tried to go directly to index finger…this was bad news and I was weak as fuck…I instead moved to middle finger and benched like that for a while before finally getting my index finger on it…this progression made the movement feel much more comfortable and I was able to progress on each grip as I was working my way out…
I think it has to do with how high to keep your chest and at what point your lats begin to fail on the descent…the weakest for me was always bringing the bar down…once I finally got comfortable with this, the weight strated moving…
Probably a good idea. I got the idea when doing illegal wides as accessory work and I annihilated an old rep PR with 225 when I wasn’t even trying to. So, far it feels good. I was pressing with ring fingers on the rings, so this was a two finger move. It actually is stronger not just feels stronger. I understand the idea of using caution and working slow though. I’ll probably do my DE bench with middle fingers on the rings and continue doing illegal wides as accessory.

Man it’s just PRs to the left and to the right for you haha. Nice work; it’s pretty awesome to see the progress you’re making.
Thanks! It seems to go this way for me. Slow snail progress for a while and then an explosion of PRs (usually due to some sort of form epiphany) and then back to the slow snail progress…
That makes sense and sorta supports my theory that my limiting factor when bringing my grip out was not so much my actual pressing muscles, but my lats…you have much stronger back than I do so probably already have an established base for pressing regardless of grip width…asshole

Haha. Get rowin’ and chinnin’. I really like chest supported rows (especially against a mini band) with an arched upper back. Set the pad so that your body is off it above the nipples arch like crazy and then row with all you’ve got.
545 looked really good, I’m impressed with how well you made the denim warrior suit! You seem to get a lot of pop out of the hole even with just the briefs

Thanks, I’m pretty happy with them. You’re right they do pop you out of the hole as long as you hold form. I think I am good for 585 with just those briefs as long as my back can take it.
Something I’ve been thinking about is to use the briefs and/or suit straps down to get some overload in for the upper-back while not beating my hips up. The thought is to emphasize my weak point there and then go back to hammering the glutes and my squat and deadlift will go up.
That’s what I’m hoping to get out of suited work too. I was thinking maybe low box squats next week then throw the suit on at regular height. Or some sort of deadlift, maybe max sumo pull? Anything for zee ass-meat

you’re gonna wanna start with a high box prolly with that ace suit to get use to it. it is a shit ton different than that single ply viking, especially since the guy said he didn’t use it much, so it may still need to be broken in.
and jake i agree with your idea, thats why i always liked to do suited work with the safety bar, for extreme back overload.

I think you are approaching this backward. You miss squats because your hips are weak not your back. Play with the gear and have fun, but hammer those weaknesses.
I missed 565 raw at the knee and the same place suited. Pulling in gear is harder than raw for me. I think my low back is an issue in my deadlifting, so it’s stretching hip flexors and volume for low back for a while.
