Sorry dude but that is by far and away the most hilarious way I’ve heard of someone injuring themselves. Hope it heals up OK.
Damn Mate, sorry to read that, but it must be the most obscure way to injure yourself.
Hope you heal up quickly.
Agree with you guys 100% ![]()
Because my uni takes audio recordings of the lectures, I can go back and listen to the events unfold.
Lecturer: Okay guys, I’m gonna get you all to stand up and try and lunge, correcting your partner’s form
[Nondescript murmuring for roughly 30 seconds, then]
Aaaaarrrghghg, fuck
Wednesday 21st of August
Day 1: Push
Gotta keep the weights light so I can hop around to the bench.
Warm-Up:
- About a 100 Band Face Pull-Aparts
5-2-1-2 DB Bench Press / Band Face Pull-Aparts
- 12.5’s x 4 x 10 / 4 x 15
Actually surprisingly hard, solid pump
4-3-1-1 Incline DB Flyes / Band Pull-Aparts
- 7’s x 3 x 15 / 3 x 20
Really good pump now
Bodyweight Dips / Band Pull-Aparts
- 15 / 20
- 8 / 20
- 6 / 20
Seated DB Press / Arms-only scap Upward Rotation
- 12.5’s x 12 / 20
- 12.5’s x 9
- 12.5’s x 6
Amazing how much I got out of super light DB’s
Had 5 really big “wins” today:
- Put shoes on by myself
- Showered unassisted
- Walked down stairs
- got a workout done
- Managed to stand with weight evenly through both feet!!!
Kind of a brag post, but I honestly feel really great about this. Maybe the rehab won’t take as long as I thought
Your idea of a win and mine is a little different ![]()
I broke both my arms at the same time back around 2013 and one of the positive things was my wife bathed me every shower. Never could get her to dress up like a nurse though.
Hahahah my girlfriend offered (not the nurse part though) but honestly my shower cubicle is small and parents were home. I would have felt really weird
Doc, I’m not saying this to rain on your parade but don’t think of finishing rehab then getting off the hook. Once injured, always injured. You’ll always have higher risk of having another dislocation from now. What I’m trying to say is that you still gotta be careful even if you complete rehab
Thursday 22nd of August
Day 2: Pull + Legs
NG Pull-Ups / Pistol Squats to mid-thigh spotter bar
- 10/ 10
- 7 / 10
- 7 / 10
Chest-Supported Dumbbell Row / SL Hip Hinges
- 12.5’s x 2 sets of 21’s (slow eccentrics) / 2 x 10
- 12.5’s x 1 set of 35’s / +12.5 IL DB x 10
- 12.5’s x 2 minutes / +12.5 CL DB x 10
The two minute set was something from Mark bell. Definitely spent a lot of time just hanging there, but didn’t drop the dumbbells.
TRX Inverted Rows / TRX-Assisted Full Pistol Squats
- 3 x 10 / 3 x 10
Absolutely agree, I’m already looking into long-term management and I’m seeing my physio tomorrow morning. Also pulling out of the strongman comp, as I see no reason to risk my health for a mid-to-low placing in the novice class
Man pulling out of a comp sucks… but hey, at least your future self will thank you. Good you have that discipline. I’ve forced playing even with an ankle sprain twice - as long as I can jump right? Lol. Worth it? Maybe, maybe not
Yeah man I know what that’s like. Ended up going from a strain to a torn hamstring from pushing an injury on the rugby field
But…but… shower sex is amazing
It is honestly the worst sex I have ever had. Also sex standing on one leg can not be fun, nor easy
LMAO ![]()

Agreed. Shower sex isn’t as fun and land sex ![]()
Idk how the movies do it but my first and only attempt at this ended up with too much laughter and me filleting the back of my head on a soap rack
shower sex is not fun at all.
Finally caught up… That dislocation is gross. I have subluxed both of my patellas which means they slipped of place and went back in on their own in one violent movement. The good part was that I didn’t have to see that crap. The bad part was that the patella causes a lot of damage to other stuff when it’s flying around like that. I never did anything with my right knee. I had my left one “corrected”.
Surgery consisted of trimming the tissue on the back of the patella because it was shredded. It’s supposed to be nice a smooth and white and mine looked like it’d be through a cheese grater. They also performed a lateral release which is cutting/burning out the retinaculum on the lateral side of the patella. This is supposed to release some of the lateral tension so there’s absolutely nothing pulling the patella in that direction.
I can’t say which approach was better. I still have pain in both knees on occasion; it’s just different. I can say with certainty that my right leg is weaker because of my knee. And it sounds like someone is stepping on peanuts when I go up the stairs with my right leg (the unrepaired one).
Hopefully yours isn’t as bad as mine, but I don’t think it’s something you’ll need to have repaired. Just do your PT and you’ll be fine. And don’t do pistol squats!
Ouch man, that subluxation sounds nasty
. I’m definitely try to avoid surgery if I can, and considering how my knee is feeling I don’t there’s any major damage apart from some of the expected laxity through some of the connective tissue. That being said, only an MRI will tell so I better get one ordered for me.
Really sucks that your knee isn’t feeling better, I’m sorry you’ve had to go through so many surgeries mate.
Out of curiosity, what’s the problem with pistol squats? Just to be clear, all the leg exercises I did yesterday were on my right-leg only.
Like anyone else, I have preferences when it comes to my training. That comment was in reference a dumpster fire thread about calisthenics in the Off Topic forum. Some idiot tried to call me out for a fool because I said I have no use for pistol squats. He was suspended yesterday so I guess I won. ![]()
